When you eat out with friends, do you split the bill evenly, contribute just what you ate, or take turns paying? Do you use Venmo, PayPal, credit cards, cash or something else? How has this changed since mobile payments became commonplace? Tell us your favorite bill-paying strategies and you'll be entered to win $25 toward your next meal (paid how you want to spend it: Venmo, PayPal, or Amazon gift card!) When we go out I do separate checks because I do not drink and I eat very little. The friends that we usually go out with are BIG eaters and drink lots of mixed drinks. We split once and I way overpaid for every ones drinks and eats. If I was rich I would do it but going out is a treat for me.

The most recent times that I've been out with friends, we've gone "dutch". I have some wonderful friends, and I owe one friend, in particular, a free lunch treat. I don't mind paying, when I have the money, I use coupons for myself, if I have them. I also offer my friends a coupon. I pay with debit.

We usually just split it evenly unless one of us was drinking more than another, they would cover more.

Usually when I go out with girl friends we get about the same thing so we just split the bill evenly. It's much easier that way and it seems to work for all of us. When my husband & I go out with another couple the server just gives us separate checks for each couple. They are always nice to do that.

We usually alternate paying for dinner using a credit card. If it's something bigger like a concert or activity, one person buys, and we all venmo our share to them!

Unless I'm treating someone a meal, I usually pay for what I order with a separate check.

If it's a double date, we usually just ask for a separate check which works out well. If I go out with my girlfriend then we take turns buying lunch. We usually use cash or credit card, that we always get points.

We usually just pay for what we have ordered. Each of us is capable of doing simple math and even if we weren't everyone has a calculator on their phone. I waited tables for years and was always amazed how much confusion this caused people.
