When you eat out with friends, do you split the bill evenly, contribute just what you ate, or take turns paying? Do you use Venmo, PayPal, credit cards, cash or something else? How has this changed since mobile payments became commonplace? Tell us your favorite bill-paying strategies and you'll be entered to win $25 toward your next meal (paid how you want to spend it: Venmo, PayPal, or Amazon gift card!) If I invite my friend, I usually pick up the tab. If my friend insists that he/she pay, I let them and we go dutch. I think it's common courtesy to offer to pay if you're the person who invited the other to come to lunch. I haven't really jumped on the mobile payments thing yet. I usually use my credit or debit card when paying.

We usually pay for what we ate and typically one person pays with credit card and everyone submits cash to cover their part.

Normally when I eat out with friends we all pay for our own food. I usually always pay with my debit card when I go out to eat.

I always go through Groupon or Half Deals and get 50% the meal to start then we usually split it and go back to our house for homemade dessert. We rarely eat out without coupons or deals. I always use my high points charge card to pay so we get more back.

Mostly we ask for separate bills. If it comes as one bill, we just pay for what we ordered. We only really split evenly when we share items and even then we pay for our own drinks.

Casual get togethers most often split or pay for our individual orders, but when I can afford it, I like to treat friends.

Oh, I fogot to say what type of payment I use. Credit cards or cash. Venmo I have never used, but with many postings saying it is so useful, I will have to look into it. :)

We decide before hand if we split or its "my turn" to pay. It really depends on everyone's money limit. Were friends...we got each other if someone doesn't have any money. With payment merhod I prefer debit card..don't like carrying money. It's also easier if your friend want to help out later to have a cash app.
