At SheSpeaks, we've been inspired by so many women, both those we know personally and those we've never met. Here are just a few of them:

My Mom

The woman who has positively influenced me is my mom, Ying Lo. She has taught me to never doubt my intuition and to go for what I love to do. She is the reason I am 100% my unapologetic self and strive to do more with my life. - Gaonou

J.K. Rowling

Aside from being an amazing author, J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter) faced a lot of rejection and persevered to see her vision come to life. She gives back generously, speaks her mind and holds true to her beliefs. - Stephanie

My Grandmother

She was an amazing woman who grew up in a time with gender role expectations, yet went on to receive her Master's and start various organizations, including women’s organizations. She was incredibly wise and always gave the best advice. - Melissa

My Mom's Group

When my oldest son was born, I met a group of amazing new moms. We started going out to dinner once a month and we haven't stopped for more than twelve years. These women have inspired me to be a better mom and a stronger person. They also taught me how important it is to support other women - and find women who support you. - Susan

Serena Williams

Serena Williams is more than just an incredible tennis player. She also uses her platform for good and has become a great role model for all, but especially girls, sisters and now moms. Her passion for excellence is inspring. I love her new Nike video that says it all.  - Carol

My grandma. She was 4 ft 9 in and had the biggest heart. And didn't let anyone get away with anything. She always was there to listen and give advice. And always had a homecooked meal to get you through the day. I loved her very much and still miss her, all these later. RIP grandma and thank you for always being there for me!

My mom has inspired me throughout my life, but especially now that I am suffering from a chronic illness. My mother selflessly takes care of me from helping me with the small things like making sure I eat something to the larger things like taking care of me financially. I have never known a woman so caring, patient, giving, and loving. Once when I told her I felt like a burden because she works so hard both at her full-time job and at keeping up with me, she hugged me close and said, "You're my daughter, you're not a burden. I'm your mother, and I'm taking care of you because that's what mothers do." She's my best friend, my caretaker, my true inspiration through and through, but most of all--my mother.

My daughter, Christine, who has been such a bastion of strength, love, and perserverance since my grandson was so severely injured and paralyzed in a football accident. She exemplifies sacrificial love and service.

The woman that has inspired me the most would have to be my Aunt. She was always there for me, even when no one else was. She thought me how to love and I will always be thankful for the time I had her in my life.
