What do you think Valentine's Day is really about? Our SheSpeaks members have overwhelmingly told us that it's really just a reminder to say "I love you." That's more important than a romantic grand gesture. And even more important than an excuse to break a diet.
Say "I love you" with more than just heart chocolates and red roses! Check out these new ways to show the special people in your life how much you really care. Plus, win $75 to use on someone you love (including yourself.)
Do a tasting of favorite foods or drinks! If your partner loves craft beers, get a selection of local beers with some small tasting glasses. Sample them to find both of your favorites. If your kids love mint chocolate chip ice cream, have a sundae party by buying a variety of brands and see which one they like the best. The possibilities of foods to taste and drinks to sample are endless. Tastings are a unique way to show the people YOU love that you care about the things THEY love. (And if you really need chocolate on Valentine's Day, at least make it fun with a chocolate tasting!)
Get an herb bouquet! Move beyond roses to something that will last longer and make your dinner taste delicious. According to PureWow, beautiful pots filled with plants such as rosemary, lavender, mint, chamomile and sage are the latest trend. Visit a local nursery to put it together yourself, or buy it already assembled. It's a different way to give flowers, and your recipient will remember it and think of you throughout the year.
Pick a class you can do together. Think about something your Valentine has always wanted to learn how to do, like decorate a cake, try rock climbing, or speak Chinese. Whatever it is, choose the class together. Then look around your area. Clases can be found at local colleges, community centers, museums, or even neighborhood shops. Plan a day and make it happen. You'll not only learn something, but it's a great bonding experience.
Spend the day in your Pjs! This is fun for you to do with your partner, your family, your friends, or even on your own. Get cozy and binge-watch some movies, play board games, or snuggle with a good book. Eat candy for lunch and order in dinner. Just enjoy your time doing very little.

A homemade dinner and their choice of a movie.
Will show my husband, by writing to him, how much I love him. I show him daily, by the little things.
I'm doing a movie night at my house with my two best friends. Chocolate and wine/beer included to let them know they're important in my life.
My hubby & I usually pick one of our favorite restaurants & go out to eat. I buy him the candy he likes & take "way too long" picking out the perfect card!😉He will probably bring home flowers & candy.💕 And I'll get our 4 sons their favorite candy also.
The most endearing and authentic thing I can do is to be myself.
My husband will be away on business so we will just have a normal day of work. I should be honest though, and say that even if he was around, we would not do anything different for valentine's day. We prefer to pick a different day to do something special :).
I will make them a nice dessert.
I send cards to family out of town, but make a nice meal to enjoy together at home.
This year my daughter has a half day of school on Valentine's Day so we are going to go to IHOP for lunch and then for pedicures. Plus I got her a small piece of jewelry to remember our day.
Spending time together making a home cooked meal and home made cards to one another!
Valentines Day is a day to simple spend time with my husband and children. I love to bake cookies, make a nice dinner and enjoy the time with them. Sometimes we will go ice skating, or for a walk in the snowy parks together. Most of all, just telling someone you love them is great, but showing them by giving your time is so much better!
by making a nice dinner!
Make a great dinner.
