I lie to people and tell them I already have some other plans and then I relax at home with my husband.
My survival tip is one main thing- Not to stress. I have so many issues with this in the past. Do what I can do and if it don't work have a plan B. Family and friends are the important things that matter.
Continue to make time for myself - reading, going for long walks, exercising or sometimes just sitting and "breathing" for a few minutes to stay centered.
To be stress free, I work at being organized. I have a gift app on my phone that keeps track of purchases. This helps keep me on track with spending as well.
I'll be eating beforehand and taking my own snacks to stay on track with my eating plan.
Pecan Pie brings people together!
I'm all about using disposable serving sets, place settings, etc. Easy cleanup makes for an easier life.
simple , call for everyone bring part of the meal
Holidays aren't that stressful here since most of the kids grew up, moved away and had families of their own. It's a much smaller affair for us and my mom did away with gifts, so it's just family members in the area gathering for a day of catching up and stuffing ourselves with food.
My greatest survival tip is enjoy it. Bring your kids in the kitchen to help you make things. Try to make family get togethers stress free. Just breath and slow down and enjoy the time with family and friends. One of the ways I do that is doing everything I can the day before.
My holiday survival tips are to start shopping early so you aren't going crazy at the last minute. Don't get sucked into all the Black Friday craziness. There are plenty of good deals before and after Black Friday. Enjoy your thanksgiving with your family without worrying about Christmas shopping right away! Just enjoy all the activities and decorations and relax! Do as much shopping online as you can so you avoid the crazy and crowded stores
Reduce your stress by making it fun not fancy. A fun sock exchange instead of more useless, overpriced gifts we will never wear for each other. Bake one treat for everyone..bus driver, teachers, daycare providers, etc. Find a recipe you can freeze or make ahead, and do at your own pace!
i get drunk ; )~
I destress on a Saturday night by watching cheesy Hallmark Channel Christmas movies. They are so predictable that you can half pay attention while wrapping or baking or writing Christmas cards. The best part is the seasonal messages and a guaranteed happy ending.
My survival tips are pretty simple everything in moderation!! It applies to family, treats, not gaining a bunch of weight, and kids being out of school. I always make sure to take some time out for myself!!
