Many people think their everyday actions are ordinary, and that the things they do every day can’t make a difference to help the environment. P&G believes the most effective changes don’t necessarily start with grand acts and can start much closer to home, by changing the way we think about things like waste.

Our family does the three r's, reduce, reuse, recycle. One thing I do a lot is donate the kids clothes and toys when they grow out of them, we give them to charity or homeless.
We don use shopping bags and recycle all the paper/cardboard , plastic we get...we have 5 times as much recycling as garage.
we recycle most things and we used things for kids crafts too.
I learned the value of recycling from my grandparents. They lived through the great depression, so they learned that they could reuse almost anything. We can our fresh fruits in the summer, and then save our jars to reuse after we eat it for the next summer canning. We recycle our cans, paper, etc. And I save some things when they are no longer usable for their purpose to use in my craft projects for girl scouts. And the little green baskets that berries come in, we use those to make easter baskets to give away at Easter time to those at the senior center and children at the church.
WE use egg cartons for painting. they are perfect! I also use yogurt containers to use as a cup with water to clean paint brushes.
I recycle all paper and plastics and use my own bags at the grocery store.
We have started a compost pile in our backyard. I have bins in my garage that are labeled for what goes in them. We recycle paper, cans, glass, metal (which when we take to the scrapyard we make some money, then we use this money towards family vacations, kids camps, family outings, and other fun things to do, so our recycling pays off, making the kids be motivated to help recycle more to get a special treat out of it, even if it is just going to get an ice cream cone!) , Sometimes if we have broken glass it can be useful for mosaic crafts, which are fun and can be presents for people., and plastic. In a way we also help people (not recycling but kinda), we donate clothing, household goods, toys, and furniture to people as well. I love teaching my children to help other's and the Earth by doing just a little bit of work, we can help many.
Keurig K-cups re-used to sprout seeds for the garden. Plastic grocery and store bags used for a thousand things: from kitty litter to dirty shoes, wet clothes when swimming, making tote bags out of them that look like purses, carrying daily lunch, etc. etc.
One thing we recently switched to doing was using only reusable shopping bags when we are out. We always have them with us and it feels so good to be helping in reducing the plastic bag waste!
We save all of plastic bottle caps and have them recycled at whole foods market. Most whole foods customer service offices accept lots of materials cities might not pick up.
Garden, recycle, reuse containers for various items (plastic contains, glass jars). I also can - so I re-use the jars over and over again! Also starting to make my own health care products that don't require as much packaging!
we follow the three r's---we also try to up-cycle items from around the home so thye don;t sit in a landfill!
I reuse my glass baby food jars for crafts or cute little party favors! :)
We reuse EVERYTHING! I have empty bottles everywhere. We try to not even let it get to the recycle bin.
We compost, have a garden, buy local as much as possible, and use reusable grocery bags!
