Do you color or highlight your hair?

Spring is well underway and it seems like so many of us like to "brighten" our look after the long and dark winter! So, we were curious, just how many of us actually highlight our hair?

Whether you do it to cover grey, brighten up your own color or to completely change color, we were curious, do you color or highlight your hair? Why?

Yes- I usually do it myself with home hair color products (50.5%)

Yes- I usually go to a salon for a stylist to do (28.5%)

No- I do not color or highlight my hair (11.6%)

Not yet, but I'm thinking about it (9.3%)

I have been coloring my hair for the last couple of years, mainly to color the grey. I use a semi-permanent color and it works great. It matches my natural hair color, which is reddish blond, and colors the grey completely.

I color my hair to lighten it. I have always had yellow blonde hair. Since I hit my 40's I find that my hair is getting darker. I have always been blonde and don't like it now that it is getting darker.

I've had bad experiences with coloring my hair at home. I only trust a professional to do the job for me.

I know that I can do what they do for less. You know your doing a great job when your friends want you to do there hair.

I've been coloring my own hair since I was 17, and not once have I ever gone to the salon for hair coloring. I do a great job on my hair and do not need or want a salon to do my hair. In a way, I have become my own professional!

I used to color my hair. I stopped ONLY because I have a skin condition and hair color really made it worse.

I went to the beauty supply store to buy my coloring and developer. I even did highlights with foil VERY well. My daughter helped me sometimes (she is a preteen and just LOVED this - real mom-daughter bonding!).

The drugstore kits are really good - especially the conditioner that comes with them. I got good results when I used those, but I have a lot of stubborn grey hair.

I switched to professional products and it really made a difference. I encourage ANYONE to go to a beauty supply company and ask questions about what you need. They are really helpful, and the results are STUNNING!

I have done both- I usually only highlight my hair. Recently I had it done in the salon - just for the pampering. It's just not the same when you do it yourself.
