As this holiday shopping season is nearing, how much do you plan to spend?

The holidays are fast approaching and with them, all the gift giving and celebrations.  Money will be spent, but it is a matter of how much and on what.  Whether what and how you buy are determined by your household financial situation or are a reflection of values (from buying local to possibly paying more for more sustainable products or foregoing products altogether and buying experiences for your loved ones), things likely change from year to year.  So, have you given it any thought?

More than I did last year (9.6%)

The same as I did last year (30.4%)

Less than I did last year (52.5%)

I'm not sure (7.6%)

    Our children will be receiving just a couple of gifts. One from the parents, one from Santa. Luckily my husband's family draws names so every adult buys for one adult and then we buy something small for all of the nieces and nephews. With the economy the way it is, we believe it is the perfect time to teach our kids to appreciate everything they get and stop bombarding them with so much.

    I think its soo important that we just spend time together. My husband and I waill probably exchange the same. As far as friends and family members go I will cut that back a bit. Everything is soo expensive.

    I think I've become more savy on ways to save over the past year & I hope to have just as good if not better gifts under the tree & food on the table and all for less.

    Sometimes its best just to be greatful you are all together as a family, without the pressure of buying a million gifts that are suppose to "prove" you love for one another. I would be so just as happy to wake up CHristmas morning and hold my family in my arms and make them the greatest meal I could. Just being together and loving each other would be enough for me.

    I would like to be able to spend the same or less than I did last year. I try to shop through out the year when I see something on sale to save money.

    i bought my husband a hd tv last year as a special gift, this year, we won't be going as big on each others gifts, so im hoping to be able to put some money back instead of pulling more out!

    With the price of everything going up, my real estate taxes doubling this year, and a child going to college next year, HOPEFULLY trying to spend less this year!

    I plan on using my credit card "rewards" for Christmas gifts. Hopefully I'll be able to make enough w/ my part time jobs to help w/ it as well.

    Being disabled means that I receive the same amount each month that I earn from working 26 years before I was injured. If I live very frugally throughout the year I can do okay. I don't know what will happen at Christmas this year. Hopefully Santa Claus will help. Oh how I wish I still believed.

    it all depends on how much money I have, since my grandbaby is living with me this year and she will be about 16 months old I'm sure I will find some money some where. lol
