My kids have been in full-time daycare/preschool since they were infants so I think they will be ready. I started at 4 and had a SAHM and did well. I think it depends on the kid and exposure to preschool definitely helps readiness!

I feel like boys need to start later in age not due to subject matter, but more for social/maturity. My son will start the Pre-K3 program when he turns 4, I feel like this will help him in the long run...or so says my college professors.

I started when I was 4 and even though I was the youngest in the class, I was happy my parents didn't make me wait until 5. I was reading already when I started at 4.

I think learning starts at home if the child is ready at 4 they can learn at school with other children as well.

I think it depends on the child. We are holding my 5yr old back 1 more year because she's just not ready.

So many people go by birth age but after years of teaching preschool and kindergarten I am aware that it should be based on developmental age instead. Just because a 4 year old can sing the alphabet does not mean he/she is emotionally or socially ready for school.
