When you eat out with friends, do you split the bill evenly, contribute just what you ate, or take turns paying? Do you use Venmo, PayPal, credit cards, cash or something else? How has this changed since mobile payments became commonplace? Tell us your favorite bill-paying strategies and you'll be entered to win $25 toward your next meal (paid how you want to spend it: Venmo, PayPal, or Amazon gift card!) separate checks for wot each ordered...usually go with CC...at times paypal if need to split with someone

I've had some bad experiences so I ask for separate checks as soon as the waiter starts taking orders. I don't care if someone in the group thinks it is tacky. If they do, most likely I won't be eating with them again. I tend to use cash or cred cards. If I win, I'll take an amazon gift card.

My friends and I always take turns paying the bill- they are wonderful, so there's never that awkward "who's going to reach for the bill" moment. Most of the time we all pay with a card and then leave cash for a tip whenever we can.

We usually pay for what we each get, usually by cash. We've also asked for separate checks when we're able. I have used PayPal or my bank's app to pay someone back.

We usually each pay for our own meal. However, if we're celebrating someone's birthday, two or more of us split the bill for her meal.

Boy do I agree with you. But I have Zelle, Paypal, as well as Venmo so most of my needs are covered. But I live in an ATM desert, so really can't stand it when no one I owe cash to wants cash.

Usually when I eat out with close friends we split the bill evenly on our credit cards. I use Venmo if I need to pay someone back for s gift they bought and we are splitting.
