Being a child of an addict, my entire childhood was something I had to overcome in order to be a successful adult. I am here to say, that even the lack of support and anything else does not have to define who you are and who you become. I am raising my children in a way that has completely broken the cycle. We do heal, we do make an impact. The parental addicts that walk through this life don't ever have to be given the power to hold us hostage even after we move on.

Support for your tribe is so critical for wellbeing. It takes a village of friends to make it and if I didn’t have mine I would be lost.

In a "no good deed goes unpunished" - I discounted rent on a very nice rental property to my pet sitter, her autistic son and her mother. Ended up having to sue them for eviction for not only staying PAST the end of the lease but months of non-payment. Won't even tell you the retaliation she unleashed on me
