Will you watch the Super Bowl for the game, the commercials, or as an excuse to eat as many chicken wings as you want? Whatever your reason, Big Game parties come with more etiquette rules than you may realize.
Then tell us if you agree and you'll be entered to win a YETI Ramber Lowball 4-Pack, the insulated cups everyone's talking about.
The Super Bowl party is not the best time to catch up with a friend you haven't seen in a while. If you both agree that football is not your priority, pick a spot away from the TV to chat while the game is playing. But remember that everyone in the room will likely be able to hear you, so if you are loud during the game, you can't shush others during the commercials.
YES! Serve a veggie plate next to it for people who care, or make the night a potluck so others can bring what they want to eat. Have those once-a-year treats, and enjoy them. Just don't push your delicious nachos on guests who don't want them. After all, with less people splurging, there will be more for you!
Of course! Trash talk is part of the fun. However, you might want to have a spare TV in the basement or bedroom. If things get too dicey, be prepared to separate your fans.
In most cases, you should find somewhere new to sit. But if you really want to keep your seat, try this: As you get up, shout "fives!" This reserves your seat for five minutes. If your crowd accepts this, you are good - but make sure to come back quickly. However, if someone comes by, sees the empty seat and screams "MOVE YOUR FEET, LOSE YOUR SEAT" before sitting down, then you better find a new place to park.
It's best to join in to some degree. If you really don't want to play, offer to be the official judge of the game, though this may involve you counting talking animals or "wardrobe malfunction" mentions. But try to participate. After all, you are a guest and sometimes you just have to play by the house rules.
Do you agree with these etiquette rules? What other ones do you have? Tell us for the chance to win a YETI Rambler Lowball Cup 4-pack!

I agree but remember kid's like the super bowl to so I stay home let my kid's stay up to watch it. I make kid friendly game day snacks.
not enough food- that is the worst thing possible. Always better to have too much than not enough
I will be sure to have healthy food options for my friends who are watching what they eat!
I will be avoiding any dietary issues my friends and family may have by having a variety of different snacks and food that will accomodate any of their diets!
I love these tips. I can definitely relate to the diet one and lovin' the commercials more than the game. I never heard of reserving your seat by announcing it to the crowd, but I'll try to remember that one.
One thing I need to do for the game is ensure all the food is gluten free.
We always have enough finger foods and napkins so there are no sticky high fives and couches.
I will break the talking during the game rule. I'm always talking about the flags being thrown etc.
I think these are good ideas, I'm actually looking for somewhere to go to watch the commercials and half time show!
All the women sit separately from the men during the game and don't watch the game. I will try to have everyone sit together to watch or encourage the women who would like to watch to join us!
Normally I think the biggest faux pas is during the commercials. Most people say they love the commercials and that is prime time for viewers to start jockeying for food, a better seat or just to chat. I normally don't care who is playing and enjoy the commercials. However, this year our Philadelphia Eagles are in the Super Bowl so all bets are off. I know the party I am attending will be pure craziness. May the best team win .... GO BIRDS !!!!! Be safe everyone and enjoy the big game.
not enough food to last the whole game
Ye cats and little fishes - people actually worry about these sorts of things?!? (As for me, I hate football and all sports, will not be paying any attention whatsoever to any of it - happily.)
I try not to talk too much during the game!
Have plenty of food options in case someone has an allergy or on a diet.
