When the weather turns crisp, one of our favorite things to do is visit a local farmer's market to enjoy the cooler weather, grab a coffee, and stock up on seasonal produce. Check out our tips to maximize your trip at your local farmer's market.
Take Your Time
Take a lap around the farmer's market to get a sense of what's in-season and what looks good at each booth. This is a great way to get the best price and find the best-looking produce. After you frequent a farmer's market often you'll start to learn your favorite vendors.
Bring Cash and Tote Bags
While some vendors might accept credit cards, keep it simple by bringing small bills and saving some time at the register. Don’t forget to bring your tote bags to keep your trip eco-friendly.
Ask A Farmer
Ready to venture into cooking with some different veggies (kale? celeriac?), but not sure where to start? Ask the farmer or person working your farm stand for their take on how to best prepare it. Be mindful if their booth is super busy, but getting an expert opinion can help you move out of your comfort zone and try some produce that’s new to your family.
