One has already been nominated 19 times (Meryl Streep). Another has made more than 100 films but this is her first nomination (Isabelle Huppert.)

A third stars as one of America's most beloved first ladies (Natalie Portman). A fourth portrays one half of a couple who fought - and won - for her right to marry who she wanted (Ruth Negga.)

The last, who ironically is the favorite to win, stars as a struggling actress (Emma Stone.)

Those are the five impressive women who are up for the Academy Award in the Best Actress category.

Read on to see clips of their impressive performances. Plus, enter to win your own gold prize... your choice of ALEX AND ANI Golden Rule necklace! But enter soon - this giveaway ends Oscar night, on Sunday, February 26!

Emma Stone, La La Land

This is Emma Stone's second Oscar nomination. She was also up for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in 2015 for Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance). The hit musical, La La Land, received a record-tying 14 Oscars nominations, set by Titanic and All About Eve.

Natalie Portman, Jackie

Winner of the Best Actress Academy Award in 2010 for Black Swan, Natalie Portman plays the former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy as she copes with the assassination of her husband.

Meryl Streep, Florence Foster Jenkins

This is Meryls Streep's 20th nomination - her first was in 1979 for The Deer Hunter. She portrays the real life Florence Foster Jenkins, a wealthy New Yorker in the 1940s who dreamed of becoming an opera singer but became known as the "worst singer in the world."

Ruth Negga, Loving

The story of Loving is also based on a true story - Ruth Negga is Mildred Loving, whose1967 Supreme Court case struck down laws banning interracial marriage in America. This was Negga's first nomination. She was also in Warcraft: The Beginning, World War Z and on TV in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Isabelle Huppert, Elle

Isablle Huppert is the 20th woman from a foreign-language role to be nominated for Best Actress, although this is her first nomination. She portrays a Parisian businesswoman who deals with the aftermath of sexual assault.

I hope Ruth Neena from Loving wins! She was so good in that movie and she deserves the chance for the gold! Such an inspiration to all what these two fought for and she portrayed her beautifully.

I actually haven't seen any of these movies yet, but I am a huge Emma Stone fan! I would love to see what all the hype is about for La La Land. I would like to see her when being so young.
