Did you forget that you were going to a party? Don’t have time to really shop? Here are our favorite last minute gifts and an exclusive peek and giveaway for a new type of gift card launching in stores this week.

1) Flowers- interesting fresh cut arrangements are widely available to pick up on your way to the event. Flowers smell wonderful and brighten up any room but the best part is the tiny card attached to the bouquet. Just because it’s a small card doesn’t mean your message has to be small on sentiment!

2) Wine- The traditional gift to give the host of a party doesn’t mean it has to be boring. When picking up a bottle last minute either grab a type of wine you know the host loves and say you got it for just that reason, or grab something new and exciting. Either way the guests at the party will appreciate your present.

3) Bath sets- So many different retailers carry a variety of bath products arranged in sets just for this reason. These make fantastic gifts if they are last minute or not. More bath products are just more reason to pamper yourself.

4) Gift cards- A perfect last minute gift. With the variety of service now available with gift cards, you are not limited in what you can give - dinners, movie nights, groceries, music etc… the possibilities are endless.

This week we want to give one of the SheSpeaks members a gift!

Target stores will be launching Livrada gift card’s to make e-books an easy last minute gift. These giftcards are sold at your local Target store.  They allow you to purchase e-books for your friends and family in giftcard form.  Currently they can be redeemed for the Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook but more e-readers will be avaliable by the end of year!  The new titles offered by Livrada this week are Fifty Shades of Grey, by E L James; The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest by Stieg Larsson; 44 Charles Street by Danielle Steel; Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz, and Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, which has just become a #1 bestseller.  And State of Wonder, by Ann Patchett, the award-winning author of Bel Canto.

In celebration of the launch we've partnered with Livrada to give one lucky SheSpeaks member an Amazon Kindle and 6 of the new book titles that Livrada will launch this week.

We also have one second prize winner who will receive each of the six e-books now available with Livrada. To enter, all you have to do is like the Livrada Facebook page and leave a comment in this blog below to tell us - What is your favorite book to give or receive as a gift?  Winners will be randomly selected from all complete entries. The winner will be announced on this site on July 30th.

This giveaway runs from July 17th to July 27th at 6pm ET. Must be a US resident. No purchase necessary.

 Good Luck!

I love getting books that are on bestsellers lists, or Oprah's list. I love giving the same!

I love the Hunger Games. I have actually given this book out as part of World Book Night. It was an amazing experience and I was thrilled to be a part of getting this fabulous book into so many new reader hands!

Like I posted on their FB page, I think it's a "novel" idea! My question is, what if they already have the book? Usually, you can't exchange gift cards. Are the books interchangeable, so if they have it already, they can choose a different book?

This is a great idea. I especially like it as a Christmas stocking stuffer. Or tucked inside a birthday card. And that makes it especially discreet if your best girlfriend doesn't want her husband to know she's getting "Fifty Shades of Grey" for her birthday!

For me, I would love to receive any sort of design book. In particular, I'd love a hard copy of Thinking with Type by Ellen Lupton.

I've 'liked' the Livrada fb page. I think this is a wonderful way to give the gift of reading to anyone with an e-reader. I personally like to choose my own books so a gift card would be an excellent choice for me to receive. As far as favorite books to give to people I usually find out what their hobby or interest is in & then research the book that has the most favorable reviews & get them that one.

I'm not really sure what my favorite book to gift is...since people's tastes vary I find it hard to choose books for others. I do like to gift cookbooks to my girlfriends, sisters and daughter...usually it's either Better Homes and Garden cookbook or Pillsbury cookbook, since those are two of my favorite out of my collection of over two hundred. :)
