I have curly frizzy hair and overwashing can dry it out. I also use a lightweight shampoo so it doesn't weigh my hair down.
African Americans do not have to wash their hair every day. I usually wash mine once a week or once every two weeks.
My hair is oily so I have to wash it every day or else it looks like an oil slick.
@oceanforgirl, your husband won't let you cut it, if he wants long hair let him grow it. Do what makes you happy and what is best for you!
i have every thick curly hair, and does get oily. So i need to wash my hair often.
I wash my hair every third, sometimes fourth day. I have very dry coarse curly frizzy hair. I rarely use a blow dryer or a curling iron. I color my hair every six months which surprisingly makes my hair softer for a little while. After washing my hair, I usually put in two conditioners, the first to make it easier to rinse out remaining shampoo and then rinsed out and then the second conditioner is applied so that I can comb out the tangles. I leave some of the second conditioner in my hair to leave it soft and pliable for styling. I straighten it naturally by pulling my hair into a ponytail and twisting the tail into a bun for a few hours after it is dry.
Right now I have short hair and it's really curly. I wash it everyday. When it's long every other day.
