The holidays are fast approaching and with them, all the gift giving and celebrations. Money will be spent, but it is a matter of how much and on what. Whether what and how you buy are determined by your household financial situation or are a reflection of values (from buying local to possibly paying more for more sustainable products or foregoing products altogether and buying experiences for your loved ones), things likely change from year to year. So, have you given it any thought?
More than I did last year (9.6%)
The same as I did last year (30.4%)
Less than I did last year (52.5%)
I'm not sure (7.6%)
Far less this year. The fuel prices hurt us here, and there isn't any extra for holidays.
Gonna try to cut back this year. The kids are pretty much grown and out, so last year they got a gift card from the grocery store and from the gas station and were thrilled. I'll probably make & freeze some casseroles and some soups in a jar for them also. They appreciate it & realize that the money tree out back just does not produce!!!
Ideally I would like to spend less, but with gas pricing going up it's near impossible.
I'm going to really focus on the spiritual side this year, but I know I will buy gifts just to see my 3 kids faces!
i will buy gifts for my kids and hubby but as for everyone else who is not in the immediate family... i might have to say baked goods. but who knows prices are going up on food s as well so i might just end up buying small gifts for everyone. not sure. its too early and i need to get over holloween first. thats expensive too. then thanksgiving. then christmas and we all know its not over on christmas. you gotta buy food for new years day and so on.... but i like flossy try to focus on the real meaning of CHRISTmas first.
This is going to be a very tight Holiday to get through.
I will definately be cutting back and also buying more useful gifts. Pricilla
I've become much more focused on buying more useful gifts instead of "cute junk" Most likely I will be spending less because I have less I can spend, and try to make the gift more thoughtful and useful.
I went back to school full time and the economy is terrible, so I have no choice, but to spend less.
Everything is going up in price not to mention the evil word GAS! So I will not be spenging a lot unless I win the lotto lol Mostly going to get little things and give everyone a stocking with h&b products and giftcards.
