If you were given the power to make changes that would improve your shopping experience, what type of retail store would you most want to impact?

How many times have you gone into a store and thought, "Why is it like this? It could be so much better!" From the long lines at the wholesale clubs (because only half of the lanes are open!) to rude and inattentive sales people to messy racks at some stores where you can't find your size in the place its meant to be!  Some of our shopping experiences seem ripe for improvement!

If you were given the chance to make a shopping experience better, which type of store would it be and why?

Grocery Store (36.2%)

Department Store (7.6%)

Mass Merchandiser (Wal*Mart, Kmart, Target) (39.1%)

Club Store (Costco, Sam?s, etc.) (4.9%)

Discount Store (TJ Maxx, Filene?s, etc.) (6.5%)

Drug Store (1.6%)

Big Box Retailer (Home Depot, Staples, Toys R Us, etc.) (3.8%)

If you were given the power to make changes that would improve your shopping experience, what type of retail store would you most want to impact?

I did work at Home Depot for a few years. So, now when I shop there I get so frustrated when I see the ?associates? sneaking off as if they don?t see you. Or they just plain ignore you. Recently my husband and I designed the cabinets in our laundry room in an isle at one Home Depot; not one associate came by to see if we needed help. The sad part is this store is close to Atlanta, where the corporate offices are located.

I really like fresh produce to cook and I very seldom find them in the grocery stores around where I live. Also I live in a retirement area and they do not stock enough sugar free, lower sodum and other foodsfor older people

My disappointment with grocery stores is the prices are going up to high. Also if you are trying to find something and youask one of the employees they have no clue where it is at in the store. I agree with others about how the employees are to busy talking with friends and co works and not paying any attention to the customers.

I love to go shopping in large grocery stores. They have such a large varity . I am from a small town and we have to get what they have. Not a big varity...Also the small stores never seem to have enough cashiers.

Walmart in particular seems to care less about the shoppers overall shopping experience. Why do they stock during peak business hours??? At the store I go to, the aisles seems so narrow. If you stop to actually look at or for a product you cause a back-up. I know Walmart it cheaper but shopping there is stressful for the most part. And dont make me wait to check out. Other hand shopping at Target is fun and easy.

In Wal-Mart you can never find any employees walking around through isles to help you find something. On a rare occasion if you do find someone they are clueless!!!!!

Department store shopping should be more customer friendly, teaching associates to at least say hello and thank-you. I was taught once that saying have a nice day is nice but saying thak-you has a much larger impact. I have always remembered that and now expect it.

Can we say "customer service"! I worked retail while in college and if I had acted the way the workers at some mass retailers do I would have been fired! It would be nice to get good customer service like we use to.

I would like to see grocery stores charging for plastic bags as well as purchasing and promoting products from local farms. I would also love to see recipe kiosks with ingredient/aisle printouts for efficient after work shopping.

The warehouse clubs need to go more green, they also need a more knowlegdeable staff. Whenever I try to find something that I bought the week before I'm never able to find it again, they need something available to the consumer to let them know when it's coming back in stock or if it's in the warehouse
