The summer is officially here! This is usually a time for many of us to hit the road and take those long awaited summer vacations.

However, the economic situation is having some rethink their summer vacation plans and anticipated spending.

    We don't typically take expensive vacations yearly, so the economy will probably not affect us. We usually just save up and take a "big" vacation every 3-5 years.

    Things being as they are, we just don't feel comfortable spending a lot of money on a vacation. Instead we're going to "vacation at home" and take some time out each week to visit local attractions we've never seen and return to some past favorites.

    im a 19 and i was trying to look for a job but didnt found one so this summer im staying in nyc just hangout with friends

    last year was the only time I have taken a vacation, spent a few months with my son and family. Don't see it happening anytime soon.

    We have always taken a family beach trip each summer. This year, we are renting a friends condo which is less than half of what we paid for previous condos for a week! I do think we have planned on eating 'in' more than eating 'out' while we are there. We have earned our vacation time and budget our finances accordingly every year so we can take our much deserved vacation!!! :)

    I just took a week long vacation... and ended up doing work (everyday) for at least an hour... Knowing that thousands of Americans are out of a job really puts things into perspective and really prevented me from taking any time "off"...

    After being laid off from the bank I worked for, we used the money set aside for 2 plane tickets to Arizona to buy a TON of camping gear. We have everything we need, except food, and are ready at a moments notice to get outta here! The best investment I have made this year!

    We already had vacation plans, and we intend to keep them. We have already set aside money, and booked hotels, etc., and to be honest, we could both stand to get away. My husband and I are lucky that we both work in positions that are relatively secured.

    We set aside money each year for a family vacation. It has become so important to us now that we have two kids in college. We try to have aleast one week out of the summer together every year.
