What do you think about electronic book and magazine readers like the Kindle and iPad?

With Amazon’s announcement this week that sales of digital books were greater than sales of hardbacks, it’s clear that e-readers are here to stay. What do you think about this shift in the reading experience? Are you or do you see yourself becoming a convert?

I love them and I have an e-book reader (12.2%)

I prefer the physical experience of a book or magazine (34.9%)

I'm not planning to get an e-reader but I think it is a neat device and can be very convenient (52.9%)

I love knowing that I can read in a hot bubble bath without worrying about damaging it.

i guess i would have to use one of the e-books before i would say which i would prefer althought i think i would most likely use both avenues to read books . i am like one of the other readers who checks back on a story i'm reading sometimes .

While electronic book readers are neat and convenient, I like to look at my books on the shelve and be able to touch them. I fine reading relaxing and enjoyable and it makes me happy-I like have a physical reminder of my happiness.

While I would love to have one, because i have to get rid of books all of the time, I find the price simply too high for my budget.

I have a Kindle and much prefer it to reading a bulky book. It fits in my purse so if I am waiting any where, I can just start reading where I'm at. I like that it is not taking up space on a bookshelf and wish all of my books were already on the Kindle so I could free up some space. Someone stated on here that they like to go back through the book to refresh their memory on something and thought it wouldn't be convenient with this device. However, it is much more convenient and I have used this feature several times. All you have to do is do a search (like on someone's name if you forget who they are) and it will give you every location in the book that matches your search. This is MUCH faster than when I used to have to search through pages and pages until I found what I was trying to remember. You can download books from anywhere at any time of the day. Out of 7 people in my office, 4 of us own the Kindle! GREAT device!!!

I'm sure this has its place in the wide world of technology, but I still prefer the look and feel of real paper and binding between my fingers when reading.

I love my Kindle. When I travel I can take along multiple books with ease. And if I run out of reading it is easy to get more books.

I would love to use an e-reader for college but they just don't offer enough of my textbooks in e-book form.
