Considering the downturn in the economy, are you more likely to buy store brands (such as generic or private label brands)?

We all have our favorite brands.  The ones that no matter what the coupon discount is off that comparable "other" brand, we will still by our favorite.  With the current economic environment, are you more likely to switch from national brands to purchase less expensive store or private label brands?

Do you think the quality is comparable?

No, I will stick with the name brands that I know and trust (0.0%)

Yes, I will purchase more store brands to save money (0.0%)

The same - I won't change my brand preferences because of the economy (0.0%)

Only if it is a great deal for the store brand, and it is something I know will taste just as good as the brand name kind, then I will buy it. Most of the time with coupons and sales I can get Brand name products for less than store brand.

I like to stay with the brands I know and trust. Manufacturers are offering more coupons now.

Anyway I can save money! I'm the coupon freebie lady but, of course, if its cheaper to buy the store brand I'm going to do it.

I already by some store brands, but I'm not going to increase these purchases because of the economy. Some store brands have the same if not better quality than the name brand, but there are some store brands that are just plain bad. Besides with coupons and when the name brand is on sale, the name brand will usually end up costing less.

I usually shop at Aldi, where most of their products are store brands. There are a few things I won't buy there, such as milk, because it always seems to have a funny taste to it, but most of their products are comparable to the name brand stuff. I can spend $50 at Aldi and get a cart full of food, whereas, if I went to a regular grocery store, the same amount of money might buy me 2 shopping bags of stuff. If you ask me, grocery stores charge way more than they need to. They should put more effort into cutting their costs so they can offer lower prices. Who needs all the amenities of a gourmet shopping center when you can barely afford to buy milk?

I am new to major couponing and have learned that many brand name household or HBA products are free or very very cheap with coupons. I previously used many store brands, but now my pantry and cabinets are full of expensive brand name products that i have gotten for little money.

I just started couponing recently and I'm so glad I did! We were never brand loyal before, but I find that I have a ton of money buying brand names rather than going generic. Yesterday I got 4 packages of Kraft American Singles (the 2% kind) for .50 each! Even the generic was no where close to that.

I like the store brand Food Lion because I can use my MVP card and there are also coupons on their website to use.

I only buy store brands if they are comparable to to available name brands, but I love finding ones that are. My favorite hot salsa, a store brand by H.E.B. grocery stores in Texas, is the best salsa on the market in my opinion. On the other hand, I don't waste time on products of any savings value that don't perform well, such as some generic laundry detergents and facial soaps. The downward spiraling economy hasn't affected my family yet because we've had these shopping habits for years. We buy in bulk and spend the extra cash onname brands where we have to.

I will buy whichever is cheapest! Unless, of course, I have had a bad experience with a certain brand. I won't sacrifice quality for price. This may sound like a contradiction, but I am willing to pay more for better quality. But if the quality is the same, give me the knock-off brand any day!
