I seem to spend a lot at the store for my grandchildren and pets. It is my "release" from stress to have treats for the kids when they come over. We are on fixed income, and I spend more now than I did when I had 4 kids a home! It is rediculous. I really only get the "neccessities" along with maybe some "Goldfish" crackers or pretzels for the kids, but everything costs at least $3 to $ each, so it really adds up fast. Its tough relearning to shop.

There was more than one option that I would have liked to choose, but I will be spending less on non essential items. I'm a clearance shopper and I tend to pick up things that "I might" need in the future, but I am cutting back on that. If I can not justify it's use right away, I do not buy it.

I started Christmas shopping early and used Ebay and Amazon.com that compares prices, and you can even get used items if it is not important to have new. I got my son-in-law a $20 playstation card brandnew from ebay for $7.00 and even with shipping, it was way less than half!

Walmart is a major culprit in why our economy is getting worse, they buy so few products made in the USA and they are forcing smaller companies/stores out of business because they cant compete. I HATE WALMART!

I rarely have any extra money to spend after food and bills. Bills alone are killing us!

Money is very tight right now. I make a weekly menu by looking at the sales ads in the paper. I can no longer go by Starbucks, etc. Clipping coupons helps alot.

I am trying to eat less and simply my dietary tastes. I've returned to the basics (fresh fruit, vegetables, oatmeal, and brown rice). I am eating at home a lot too. My husband has not made this change, but I think my effort alone is saving us at least some money.

Do not spend much money as it is now. Only thing left to cut in my budget is food, water, or electric. Currently spending less on groceries which is not easy, next will be cutting off the phone and internet. We are a one income family , i am care giver for my disabled son.

We don't spend as much as we use to. I have to rely on coupons and a very strict budget. It is hard with the children, they are getting tired of hearing "I am sorry "No" because we can't afford it or it has to be budgeted in."

I said the grocery store. I don't shop all that much, so some of those categories don't apply to me. This weekend, I discovered that I could purchase a package of chicken legs, a bag of saffarin yellow rice, canned vegetables, and a large jar of spaghetti sauce, all for $10.00! We are definitely in a recession in my household, but still, we find ways to manage.
