If you were given the power to make changes that would improve your shopping experience, what type of retail store would you most want to impact?

How many times have you gone into a store and thought, "Why is it like this? It could be so much better!" From the long lines at the wholesale clubs (because only half of the lanes are open!) to rude and inattentive sales people to messy racks at some stores where you can't find your size in the place its meant to be!  Some of our shopping experiences seem ripe for improvement!

If you were given the chance to make a shopping experience better, which type of store would it be and why?

Grocery Store (36.2%)

Department Store (7.6%)

Mass Merchandiser (Wal*Mart, Kmart, Target) (39.1%)

Club Store (Costco, Sam?s, etc.) (4.9%)

Discount Store (TJ Maxx, Filene?s, etc.) (6.5%)

Drug Store (1.6%)

Big Box Retailer (Home Depot, Staples, Toys R Us, etc.) (3.8%)

If you were given the power to make changes that would improve your shopping experience, what type of retail store would you most want to impact?

I go to the grocery store often. They just don't put items where they make sense. It would be wise of them to hire chefs to layout their stores. Like tomato paste should go with canned tomatoes, that's what is needed for tomato sauce.

I feel that the large discount stores are great-in concept. However, I am concerned about several things: items aren't always where "it makes sense", which causes me to walk around the store forever....(undoutedly the stores do this on purpose), I am very leary of buying meat and produce at these stores, which makes me have to go to the grocery store anyway, and I am concerned about how the employees are treated, in regards to their pay and benefits.

Unfortunately I find that customer service in most department stores is a pleasure of the past. The primary problem appears to be a lack of associates to assist customers or even man a register. I also find most stores crowded making the search for an item unpleasant. I definately return to those stores that provide the best shopping experience.

The grocery stores I shop at are much more expensive than walmart or target..but are less crowded which is nice. But I would like to get more for my buck! I also don't like how grocery stores spread everything out in the store so you walk all over the store to find what you need! They should really change that!

I would have Wal-mart put toiletries, pet and paper products on both sides of the super stores. I hate walking myself to death when I need something only on the other side of the store.

I agree with the comments about the grocery store experience. Things are not where they would make the most sense. My local grocery store for example has potato chips in one isle, veggie chips are located somewhere else. Chips should all be together no matter what they're made of, they're all made for the purpose of a snack food.

I wish these stores would really foucs on customer service. More check out lines, cashiers that really care about the customer.

I've noticed some of the major grocery store only have a few items some brands instead of all the flavors or varieties. Some of children's favorites are not available
