Have you ever purchased a beauty product "as seen on TV?"

Recently we’ve noticed a lot of product reviews on SheSpeaks inspired by beauty products advertised on television. Some of these "as seen on TV" products include "Strap Perfect," the bra strap eliminator, "Bumpits," the hair accessory that gives volume to the crown of the head, and "Smooth Away," the all-over hair remover.

We are curious to know what you think of products advertised on TV in the form of an infomercial. Are they too hard of a sell? Or, do the product demonstrations persuade you to buy? We’d love to hear about the items you’ve bought and if you’ve been satisfied with your purchase!

I have purchased cosmetics and have been pleased but in this economy, I usually have to have coupon offers.

I have purchased many items advertised on infomercials and for the most part have been pleased. My best buys have been fitness items such as pilates vidoes, total gym, fluidity. Like others, I waited to get many items once they were in local stores. I love the Ped Egg and Shamwow. -work exactly as advertised.

I purchased a kit by a well-known dermatologist because I saw her and her products on the "Oprah" show. After just one use, my face blistered and broke out in sores. I was able to get a full refund. I normally can only use Clinique mild products. neufann

The most recent "as seen on tv" purchase that I made was the PediEgg, and I absolutly love it and use it on average 3 days a week. I find it works best when I'm fresh out of the bathe and the results last longer if I condition my feet everynight.

I bought Smooth Away and it didn't work at all for me! I'm a bit darker skinned, with thicker, dark hair. It not only didn't work, I also got a rash on the spots where I rubbed, despite following the directions to the letter. The hair inhibitor lotion is very nice, though. I use it after waxing/shaving, and it definitely diminishes the appearance of hair between treatments.

thebutlerdidit - are you speaking of the "yummy tummy"? My girlfriend purchased that and LOVED it. I've gotten the PedEgg and like it. Also, I have the green stuff thats supposed to bond to anything - it didn't work for me at all.

HDHolley - I too love the Strap Perfect. My only comment is they are hard to use on bras that have the adjustment on the back side of the bra instead of in the front (the adjustment for the straps to lengthen or shorten).
