I was really looking forward to a small one this year, but now with the gas prices and brining the dog to a doggy home for the weekend it's jus too much. I'm thinking of maybe just staying at one of our more expensive hotels. Swim in the pool and have their morning buffet and be home the day. If anything, I'll be able to de-stress and relax with no responsiblity and no worries. Plus a different view is always nice...........

We don't have a lot of money so things close to home will be the way to go.. Going to the beach is always fun and my toddler loves it!

I do not plan on cutting back on vacations this summer. I am going to take advantage of the camping gear we have and try to stay as many different places as possible even if its just for one night. My husband and I love camping and getting to know the area we live in. Also it gives us an opportunity to get to know each other better. When you are faced with challenges like setting up a tent your true self shows so we learn how to work with each other also.

We live in an area that borders 3 other states....which also happens to have a lot of our favorite outdoor activities. Our daughter & two granddaughters live 3 hours west and our son, granddaughter and grandson live 4 hours south of us - so we really don't have to spend a lot of time or money to make trips to see them. What better vacation than to take your grandchildren out to eat a hamburger, to see a movie or go to the zoo, water park, the museum or tucking them in and reading them a bedtime story. Or for us & our grandchildren - our favorite thing to do, is to go to a local state park or lake to go fishing & hiking the trails. Neither cost much money but leaves a wealth of great memories.

With my husband just getting back to work after being laid off for 6 months and having to take a three dollar an hour pay cut we have to cut back. We have decided to start camping with our two boys. Lucky for us we have some great State parks within an hour or two from us in Kansas City. Plus we have found lots of things to do locally that are free or real cheap
