I notice that when I moved to a different city, I was so worried that we would not be able to survive on just one income! But to tell you the truth we had about 200 dollars left over each month! My husband and I cut our spending to only getting what we needed, and we were able to pay all of our bills with his income. Now that I'm working, the money that I make we double up on our credit card payments. We were able to pay off 3 credit cards that were over 2000 dollars. If we kept this up we would be debt free by the end of this year!! That would included 2 car payments, 2 student loans, 2 credit cards that's over 6000, and other that's 3000.... I guess with living on one income for a few months made us realize all the useless money that we were spending, so when we cut back, it was a wake up call! We did have just a little help on this book my husband bought for like 5 dollars, some Dave Ramsay, I think thats what its called.

It sucks that the way the economy is just so bad, maybe with everyone now budgeting, its a big wake up call on the money thats being spent. Hopely when the economy picks back up, we won't go back to the way things were.

My husband is only working part time right now, since they cut hours. We are barely making rent, buying just the basics.and I try to find coupons for those items or buy store brand, anything to make the amount lower at the checkout. Plus,I try to only use cash, dont want to have to pay high interest on credit card bills. I think everyone is feeling the pinch and that we shouldnt judge or blame other "classes" of people. Plus there will always be rich and poor. No one will ever be able to change that.

I guess I really havent changed my spending all that much. Maybe Im a "geek", but Ive always thought it was fun to try to find the best deals around & be frugal in general. I gotta admit, I get excited when I see how much money I saved at the bottom of a receipt or I find a product at a really good price. Plus, I loove helping others find a good deal also. To me its like Im giving someone a present.

I'm trying to spend less, but since I don't look at our finances so closely anymore, I'm not sure if I have or not.

We've always tried to make saving a priority, and we try not to spend beyond our means. One way we do that is to use credit cards as little as possible. We also coupon cut and look for deals on fun activities. Where I live in Portland, OR there is $2 Tuesdays the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the zoo, and there are also lots of special "bring a can of food" days at different parks as well.

I've been on a tight budget for the last year and a half. The only thing I see is that I'm buying less with the same amount of money. If it weren't for the Angel Food program I don't think I'd be able to swing fresh fruit & veggies at all. I do have a small garden but in Buffalo NY you just are not getting fresh veggies out of a back yard garden in December no matter how hard ya pray. LOL

Money is really tight for us right now too! I am only buying what we need, and not what I want or what the kids want. I hope times get better....

I try to continue to spend so that I stimulate the economy. It's scary not saving more right now, but I think it's the right thing to do to keep businesses afloat.
