If you were given the power to make changes that would improve your shopping experience, what type of retail store would you most want to impact?

How many times have you gone into a store and thought, "Why is it like this? It could be so much better!" From the long lines at the wholesale clubs (because only half of the lanes are open!) to rude and inattentive sales people to messy racks at some stores where you can't find your size in the place its meant to be!  Some of our shopping experiences seem ripe for improvement!

If you were given the chance to make a shopping experience better, which type of store would it be and why?

Grocery Store (36.2%)

Department Store (7.6%)

Mass Merchandiser (Wal*Mart, Kmart, Target) (39.1%)

Club Store (Costco, Sam?s, etc.) (4.9%)

Discount Store (TJ Maxx, Filene?s, etc.) (6.5%)

Drug Store (1.6%)

Big Box Retailer (Home Depot, Staples, Toys R Us, etc.) (3.8%)

If you were given the power to make changes that would improve your shopping experience, what type of retail store would you most want to impact?

What annoys me at Target and Walmart is that they have thirty check-out lanes and only two are open. It burns me up!! I have children and they are usually ready to get out of there, by the time I check-out. Also, I do not like it when cashiers do not hand you your bags/or pull them off the bag dispenser. I have left things at stores because they are still on that thing.

I would love to see Walmart and other stores like it have employees who are there soely to help people find what they are looking for in the store. I have left stores many times without what I needed, because I could not find anyone who knew where my needed item was. That is just lost money for the store.

Stop moving merchandise around so often - I realize that is part of marketing to keep the customer shopping but if I have to hunt for my favorite or most-bought items every few times I am there, it adds more time to my shopping that I don't need to waste, and just makes me frustrated. I consider that an inconvenience on the part of the customer, because I may become unlikely to keep wanting to shop somewhere I am not able to find what I need where I need it, when I need it.

I think that all stores should have easy access price scanners like Target. I would also like to see more stores do clearance racks, and the grocery stores mark down fruits, meats and milk with quick expiration dates instead of just throwing it out.

I go to mass merchandisers (Walmart) for most of my all-over shopping to get my work done quick and dirty, so I would like to have more power over price increases, hiring, managers, and stock.

I hate it when Wal-Mart moves products. . .which I suppose is done on purpose to make you look at other things and hopefully you are impulsed into to buying. Also, they sometimes get great products, and then you never find them again. I agree with the comments made on the self-check out, it rarely works.
