If you were given the power to make changes that would improve your shopping experience, what type of retail store would you most want to impact?

How many times have you gone into a store and thought, "Why is it like this? It could be so much better!" From the long lines at the wholesale clubs (because only half of the lanes are open!) to rude and inattentive sales people to messy racks at some stores where you can't find your size in the place its meant to be!  Some of our shopping experiences seem ripe for improvement!

If you were given the chance to make a shopping experience better, which type of store would it be and why?

Grocery Store (36.2%)

Department Store (7.6%)

Mass Merchandiser (Wal*Mart, Kmart, Target) (39.1%)

Club Store (Costco, Sam?s, etc.) (4.9%)

Discount Store (TJ Maxx, Filene?s, etc.) (6.5%)

Drug Store (1.6%)

Big Box Retailer (Home Depot, Staples, Toys R Us, etc.) (3.8%)

If you were given the power to make changes that would improve your shopping experience, what type of retail store would you most want to impact?

My BIGGEST Pet Peeve is spending hard-earned money on over-priced groceries (Have you noticed how much just groceries has gone up int he last year?)that aren't fit to eat when you get them home? I have had baggers set a gallon of milk on top of my bread, set 10 pounds of chicken leg quarters ont top of my bananas, or put a package of raw, dripping meat in the same bag as my kleenex so that the box was ruined! UUUGGGHHH! Do these people not also buy groceries for their own families????????????????????????

The grocery store chain I shop at stocks different items in different stores. There is one Mexican brand we really like, but it is at a store further from my house. The store near me doesn't carry it and won't order it. I also don't like the milk located in the back of the store. I wish it was up near the front so I could run it and get milk and fresh fruit and veggies and be on my way for the in between shopping..

Department stores are the worst! They try to cram too much stuff in too small of departments. And customer service is non existant this day and time.

Grocery stores are way too expensive!! in ever fell that there is someone around to help me find things and I dont think their customer service is that great. They never have everything that I need so i end up having to go to Walamrt anyway.

I love discount stores. Marshall's is my favorite and does a decent job of keeping the store clean. They could improve their organization but no one is worse than Ross!!! They really do have so good deals but sometimes I walk in and walk right back out because the store is ALWAYS a mess. They should really improve their checking lines as well. I will put a good deal back if I have to wait 30 minutes to pay for it!!!

Now that we can do one stop shopping I find it very convenient what with working fulltime, it does save a lot of little store shopping. Walmart is one example of this convenience. However, I do feel as if I do spend more than enough time in the checkout line during peak hours. I am not going out late at night even though the store does remain open late for those of us who cannot get there at an earlier hour.

I have a hard time in stores such as Walmart. I always seem to forget pet food or toothpaste when getting groceries. In the grocery isle for example, there are a few choices for body soap. This reminds me to go to the large soap isle to look for more options. It would be nice if there were a few choices of other items along the way so you don't have to go across the store to find it.

Department stores are terrible to purchase in. I can shop without a problem but to find a register or a sales clerk to check you out is few and far between. As well, then there is a line since there are a limited number. I like the idea of more stores going green - We have quite a bit of that in our town but I see how encouragment for using cloth shopping bags would help. Some kind of incentive for not forgetting them in your car or at home =). Skylights are great in some of our stores as well.
