What do you think about electronic book and magazine readers like the Kindle and iPad?

With Amazon’s announcement this week that sales of digital books were greater than sales of hardbacks, it’s clear that e-readers are here to stay. What do you think about this shift in the reading experience? Are you or do you see yourself becoming a convert?

I love them and I have an e-book reader (12.2%)

I prefer the physical experience of a book or magazine (34.9%)

I'm not planning to get an e-reader but I think it is a neat device and can be very convenient (52.9%)

I have a Kindle (FIRST generation, owner since Nov. 2008) and I LOVE it. Biggest perks: portability, books in under 60 seconds, low price of books, your entire library with you all the time, I've read more than I have in my life, AND the biggest advantage is that I can free up my hands when I work out on the elliptical by propping it up and just hitting the "next button" when I need to advance the page. No more holding a book, or thumbing through a magazine. Can't say enough about my Kindle!

Two of my friends have the Kindle - They love them - Being a teacher and up on all the new gadgets I still like the experience of holding a book and the whole "page turning" experience - However as a mom of five it may be in my future!

I own a nook and I love it...I can take it anywhere and not have the bulk of a book I can curl up anywhere with it.

I have a Kindle and I just love it. I keep it with me always so I'm always ready for a good read. It saves me room when I travel . I used to travel with four or more books for a weekend and then would finish them and have to go buy more. This way I have as many as I want in a small space and a very affordable price. You can even surf the net with it, this function is a little slower than your usual web surfing devices but it is a work in progress. I even loaded my Bible on my kindle and use it in church and Sunday school. The highlight and note functions are great.

um are the answers to your polls always supposed to 'lead the witness'?? The answers to the polls are often very limiting, this one doesnt even have I plan to get one or i might get one, there was no way to say i like it and might get one, only i like it and am NOT getting one. LOL whats the point of a poll if you make us answer incorrectly bc its the best choice...lol phrase your polls better!

I love my Kindle, which is funny because I didnt' think I would, but it looks just like a paper book. I'm so glad they made an e-reader.

I have a Sony Reader that my husband gave me for Mother's Day. I love it!! Makes it easy to take books with me to a doctor appointment. However, I do prefer a physical book or magazine.

I have not tried this type of device. I think I would prefer to physically hold a book, but I can see how younger generations could benefit from it!

I have a Sony 505 and I'm really happy with it. I can carry various books with me along with some music all on the same ereader. So when I'm ready to read if I want to listen to music I can, if I don't I don't have to. My choice. Plus it's compact enough to fit inside my purse. I keep enough books on it so that no matter where I am I don't have to worry about running out of reading material. That's so nice. Plus if my eyes get tired and I'm in the middle of a good story, I can increase the type size and keep on reading!
