If you voted for President Obama in 2008, would you still vote for him today?

Recently we polled SheSpeaks members on their perceptions of President Obama’s first year in office.  About 28% thought that he was doing a good job.  So, we were curious, if you voted for President Obama in the 2008 Presidential run, would you vote for him again?  Why or why not?

Please tell us what you think.  We want to know.

Yes (55.5%)

No (10.2%)

I did not vote for Obama (34.5%)

If you voted for President Obama in 2008, would you still vote for him today?

I voted for Obama and would again. People seem to not realize change takes time and the issues that are effecting us didn't happen overnight and they will not be changed overnight. It also shocks me that people are blaming him for these issues. All these messes didn't start January 20th, 2009........

We should give him a chance. It has only been one year. What other President had received this amount of scrutiny in just one year!

I will still vote for Obama now. The president cant make changes in one year. It will take time for all Obama plans and regulations to come in affect. He still have to clean up the mess that Bush made. I truly believe that Obama will make the US a better country. It is time for change in this country. Change is a good thing.

What is wrong with socialism? Are you kidding me? Free college education, health insurance, day care. Nothing is free. Where do you think the money comes from for all these freebies? From taxing hard working americans that actually work for for a living trying to provide these things for their families without expecting a handout. I've worked my entire life to get the things that I have without asking for a handout from the government. Many people that can afford to pay for their own health insurance choose not to. Why should I have to pay for their insurance by paying higher taxes. Programs the Obama administration wants to cut to help fund these and handouts are the ones that benefit the elderly, disabled, veterans, and our military, the very ones we should be taking care of and which I have no objection to. This is totally unacceptable. My children and grandchildren should not have to pay for the handouts this administration is trying to force on us.

I stand behind our nation's president. In order for us to grow as a nation, we need to be supportive of our president. The problems we face were a long time in coming. They won't be solved overnight. None of us know how close we were to financial disaster. We need to trust our leaders' decisions and know that the only way out of this mess is by working together.

I'm very happy to say that I did not vote for him. I believe that too many people were pulled by the celebrity backing and the campaign slogans rather than the real issues and histories. The people that are for the socialization of this country can't possibly love the freedoms we hold dearly and refer to daily. That is the first huge step to the demise of our great nation. People don't realize, the money has to come from somewhere to fund all of this. "The only problem with socialization is, eventually, you run out of other people's money."

At 31, I was a voting virgin until I voted for Obama. I stand by his decisions and am thankful it's not me who has to make them. Everyone is a critic and evreyone thinks "their candidate" could do better. We don't all have to like him but we should respect him.
