IF you have been buying more store brands during the economic downturn, will you go back to your usual brand-name favorites when the economy recovers?

While the economic downturn has been tough on many of us, there are a couple of silver linings we can find.  We’ve all become more thoughful about our finances and the products we purchase.  Trying new store brand products because they’re less expensive may have lead to great new discoveries about high-quality store brands that we’d like to stick with, even when a more stable economy resumes.

Have you tried any new store brand products that were surprisingly high-quality?  Will you stick with them even when the economy bounces back?

Yes...I will return to my usual name brand favorites (5.8%)

Some...I will return to many favorite brands, but I'll stick with a few new store brands I found (51.3%)

N/A I'm not buying more store brands during the economic downturn (22.7%)

I try store brands from time to time, but rarely find any that are as good as the name brand. If I did find one I liked, I would stick with it for sure. I suppose the only exception for me is that I happen to like the store brands of plastic silverware from BJ's and Costco. I think that's it on the store brands for me.

I don't mind buying store brand products for the most part. I've usually bought them for years. I just have certain types of foods I favor in a brand or taste preference, like with cheese.

I used to avoid the store brands but now find myself comparing prices and selecting these for basic products only. If I have a coupon for a name brand, the store brand is not normally any cheaper. Items such as paper and plastic goods are, in my opinion, just as good with the store brand. When it comes to cooking, I stick with the name brands.

I have actually returned to using coupons now more than ever and have found that I save much more money on the name brand products for a lot less money. I occassionally do purchase an offbrand only if I don't have my coupons with me.

Some items, like bathroom tissue, I will continue to buy store brands...Also, some of my beauty products will continue to be a mix of store brands and Brand named because I have found some new favorites.

I only buy name brand products I'm a huge coupon junkie and I don't buy anything with out it being on sale and have a coupon. I normally pay vary little for things. also for all you new couponer's out there any store that has there own coupons (like target or meijer mealbox) you can use there coupon with a manufactures coupon and double up for more savings just make sure one says target or meijer or what ever store and one says manufacturer on the top next to the date .

I shop quite a bit at Walmart Neighborhood Market. Since the economic downturn they have started to introduce man products with the 'Great Value' name. I have tried some and they are as good as the name brands I was buying. I always check the price though because sometimes the sale price of the name brand is lower that the 'Great Value' brand.

With the use of coupons and watching the trends at the stores, there is no need to use house brands for the most part.
