As the economy is getting worse, I've noticed that stores like Albertson's and K-Mart are raising their prices. I don't know if this is just locally or nationwide??? It is a double whammy. My already part-time hours at work have been cut way way way back. I simply can't afford as much as before, and (shame on the greedy businesses) for making even staples unaffordable... LOL, I feel like I'm 'window' shopping at the grocery store. Litterally, I will stare at the produce or frozen fruit, for example... dream of how great it would taste, then I walk away.

Neither myself nor my husband have a job right now, so we spend as little as possible until we can find work.

As a state employee, I will be having my first mandatory unpaid furlough day off from work this Friday. This is our state's efforts to prevent layoffs. Very depressing given my years of dedicated service. Spending less and thinking about every purchase more than usual as a result.

I had a 20% salary cut a few month back....I'm getting good at using coupons and looking for great deals. I try to only shop discount food stores as food prices have really gone up. I stick to my list now, instead of getting unnecessary items.

I have only been buying what we need for a while now. when there isn't much to go around you really need to be aware of how it is being spent. We always ask ourselves, do we need it or do we just want it.

I've been working the same hours with the same pay for almost two years now. Even though we are in recession, I do not feel like my spending habits have changed much. I have cut out the energy drinks and switched to a Coca Cola in the mornings, instead. I also quit smoking. But other than that everything else has stayed the same.

I was laid off in February, which forced me to budet big-time. I recently found a new job and am allowing myself to spend a bit more.

I have been a coupon freak for the past couple of months.... I was just sick and tired of wondering why at 43 my family is living on mac and cheese and lunchmeat for DINNER!

I'm spending more only because I have spent so many months spending less, and now that I've got a lot saved up, I want to start using a little bit. I could save it, but then I wouldn't be showing confidence in myself, that the money will keep coming in. Saving it tells myself that I'm scared it's going to end. And if I think that way then it's more likely to happen. I do still spend my money wisely though. I have a list of things I want to purchase, and slowly and little by little I knock them off. It's fun. It's nice to know I have control of my situation even in this ecomony.
