I think that personal finances is the biggest reason for the biggest reason for the slowing of the economy. People are in more debt these days. People are truly over spending.

I agree with godsgirl: People are in debt these days to the max!! Why keep up with the Jones'? Why bother? I like the fact that I have rabbit ears on my TV and not cable! TV is not important to me, reading is!

I definetly see myself and family cutting down on spending. Less money spent on food, driving only if needed, and not as many trips to Wal-Mart.

I'm cautious with my spending all the time so there's no need to adjust my habits due to market changes.

If I lived beyond my means, then yes - I would but back.

Fortunately, I have not had to curb my spending as yet. However, if my financial situation changed and that made me have to adjust my purchases, I would do so immediately and with no reservation. One should never jeopardize their financial security by overspending.

I thought my job was extremely secure and then out of the blue, for no reason, I lost it. Now we are struggling to make ends meet. I now know that no job is secure and we are one illness away from losing everything. Something drastic needs to happen to straiten this economy out. We used to be set, now we are terrified!!

I'm not curbing spending due to any impending recession/economy issues-more because I'm a realistic person. I also lost my extremely secure job as an office manager 3.5 years ago, when the physical therapy clinic I was working for was closed by its parent company...I was 4 months pregnant at the time & we lost my really great health insurance. Luckily, my husband had/has a good job w/decent (not great) insurance, so we haven't had to struggle as much as we might have...but we both grew up pretty poor, so we automatically went into "thrifty mode". We always cut coupons, watch sales, sign up for free samples & try not to splurge on things that really aren't necessary...and that allows us to buy nice things for our daughter, and will allow us to do the same for the baby coming soon!
