If you were given the power to make changes that would improve your shopping experience, what type of retail store would you most want to impact?

How many times have you gone into a store and thought, "Why is it like this? It could be so much better!" From the long lines at the wholesale clubs (because only half of the lanes are open!) to rude and inattentive sales people to messy racks at some stores where you can't find your size in the place its meant to be!  Some of our shopping experiences seem ripe for improvement!

If you were given the chance to make a shopping experience better, which type of store would it be and why?

Grocery Store (36.2%)

Department Store (7.6%)

Mass Merchandiser (Wal*Mart, Kmart, Target) (39.1%)

Club Store (Costco, Sam?s, etc.) (4.9%)

Discount Store (TJ Maxx, Filene?s, etc.) (6.5%)

Drug Store (1.6%)

Big Box Retailer (Home Depot, Staples, Toys R Us, etc.) (3.8%)

If you were given the power to make changes that would improve your shopping experience, what type of retail store would you most want to impact?

As hard as they try to improve set-up, atmosphere etc, grocery stores are still extremely annoying to me. Often the set up of merchandise, isle groupings etc, make no sense to me. I always feel like i'm in a cart traffic jam where everyone is in a hurry to go nowhere fast.

I wish that the grocery store that I shop at would quit trying to be like Walmart. It seems like once I get used to where everything is, they start trying to be a bigger store and then move everything around to where you cant find anything. Then you have to have a map to find what isle you should be looking on. Then the trash bags get moved to the dog food isle and the gravy gets moved to the cereal isle. It's getting ridiculous.

The store isles should be bigger for the shoppers to flow through the store without having a traffic jam in every isle. There should ALWAYS be cashiers covering the checkouts and not make customers wait in long lines. I love the self checkouts...and think they should have more of them.

I feel overwhelmed in department stores. Everything is jamed together, and difficult to find what you are needing . dyeykal

I love shopping at walmart but their pharmacy wait is horrible and the keep changing the layout of the store. I am one of those people who go in get what i need and leave, I dont like to have to look for things because they change the layout and dont change their signs

My local grocery store recently had a "make-over" -- which they claimed would improve the shopping experience.

Instead, it's a disaster. They added more shelving which resulted in the aisles becoming narrower (some have store columns in the middle of them making them barely wide enough for one cart to get through).

I wish grocery stores would stop trying to be all things to all people. I don't need automotive supplies, books and office supplies where I shopping for food. I wish they would go back to focusing on food and household items -- which is the only reason I go there to shop.

I love that so many grocery stores now have organic sections, but they are so mis-matched and not taken care of very well. And then Target has a great deli section where you can get all kinds of lunch foods or quick healthy dinner foods but the parking lots stinks and it takes 20 minutes to get in and out of! makes me crazy! The SUPER stores make me a crazy when I just need a simple grocery.
