Of the following compliments, which would you want to hear the most?

As women, different things motivate us. A group of friends recently got together and starting comparing notes on compliments. One had recently been told that she was beautiful. She said that it made her day. Another said that she would prefer to hear that she is special.

Perhaps, different comments are appropriate at different times but, it got us thinking about what we most liked to hear. There doesn't seem to be a one size fits all.

What do you like to hear and why?

I love you (40.4%)

You're beautiful (23.8%)

You're smart (16.5%)

You're special (12.7%)

You're funny (6.5%)

I'm sad to see that so many of us women are so insecure about being pretty/being loved. Maybe we need to channel that insecurity into doing something constructive about the misogynistic society that triggers our feelings.

When I read the list "You're Beautiful" immediatly made me smile. I heard it as a compliment to my internal beauty and not the external appearance. "You're beautiful" makes me smile and shine from the inside out.

FOR me to hear someone say (and truthfully mean it)"I Love you" is accepting and cherishing the the whole and complete me...and to me there is no bigger compliment!

I didn't know who I was getting this from, so, I don't really want to hear I love you from everyone... I guess because I put the romantic spin on it. I'm goofy and I don't think of special in an always nice way. I was told I was smart as a child (and sometimes now), but, I'd love to hear that I am beautiful. (Maybe if I lose some weight...)

I prefer a combination. If I hear any of it too much I can not be sure they mean it. I love to hear my guy say "I love you", I miss it when he does not, but when someone makes any of those compliements you are not expecting it, it feels great!

I like to hear I love you I think those words are important to hear and to receive from someone. When someone truly loves you they have your best interest at heart. One of the greatest commandments " to love"

i think that saying i love you has to be from the heart.i have learned that just because someone says i love you they don't always mean it.i don't care if anyone thinks i'm beautiful as long as i think i am ,i am ok with my looks.all the other words ,if you think you are then you feel that you are what the words mean. all of these have to come from the heart and mind .
