How many books do you read, for leisure, per month?

Did you ever notice that people seem to talk more about reading in the summer months? I suspect we all read during the darker winter days as well, but "beach reading" and bestseller lists do tend to be part of everyday conversations for the vacations days of June – August. And, there is also the current book club phenomenon. It may be one of very few times that a woman actually gathers with friends outside of motherhood or career realms, and publishers are really starting to take note (and figure out how to connect with us!).

Whether it is a thick historical tome, the latest legal thriller or fiction, light or heavy, reading is a fairly universal past-time. It's just a matter of how engrossed you can manage to get, or not. I am on the extreme side of that pendulum, and read a lot of everything all the time, but what about you?

1 book per month|I find just a few spare moments every day to lose myself ? but love it. (27.8%)

3 to 6 books per month|I have made daily reading a steady half hour or so habit, and find it incredibly relaxing. (34.7%)

6+ books per month|My library card is worn out and I am practically a shareholder at Barnes and Noble. (15.6%)

Magazines only|I like smaller chunks of entertainment/ information that I can easily pick up or put down at a moment's notice. (21.6%)

I LOVE reading - nothing better than to escape into another world, a historical event or life. For me, I read the Bible most, or listen to it. My favorite product I found last year was the Bible Experience - best audio recording to date. I also like reading Max Lucado and Rob Bell. I also do have a weakness for gossip magazines. :)

I wish I had more time to just sit down and read. I love reading and always have - books, magazines, cereal boxes...

When I was single and childless, I read at least 2 newspapers a day, 2-3 magazines a week, and 2-3 books a week - never have been interested in TV. But, a baby changes everything, though reading is what I turn to for 'me' time, and I still need to do plenty of it for work!

It's seems so hard to find time to read things that are purely fun and interesting to me. With all the work reading that I do, I find it hard to break out time to just read for my own pleasure. I mostly end up reading magazines for my own pleasure. I'm going to try and find to time to read a book this summer! Fingers crossed!

I read one book a month (fiction & non-fiction) and in a given year, 10 of the 12 books are from authors of whom I no knowledge or experience with previously. Just finished Pat Barker's "Life Class" (has got very positive reviews) and I highly recommend the book!

Love to read best sellers; get most from my public library. Since I tend to not finish them all in the time allotted, I make my "contribution" in the form of overdue fines ! Just finished Harlan Coban's new book "The Woods" Great book to read by the pool or on the beach, esp. if you are from NJ. Also, the latest Michael Conolley (sp?) "The Overlook" was pretty good; had a decent ending. Would have read the latest Harry Potter but found that they put me to sleep ! Guess I am too old for that genre ;)

I've only started back with reading over the past month or so, but have already read over 3 books. I've discovered that I really enjoy reading and it's very relaxing. Glad I started back.

I definitely read more books during the summer. I find it so relaxing to sit on the beach and read.

I enjoy reading late at night when it is quiet and everyone else is asleep. It helps me to unwind so that I can fall asleep easier.
