IF you have been buying more store brands during the economic downturn, will you go back to your usual brand-name favorites when the economy recovers?

While the economic downturn has been tough on many of us, there are a couple of silver linings we can find.  We’ve all become more thoughful about our finances and the products we purchase.  Trying new store brand products because they’re less expensive may have lead to great new discoveries about high-quality store brands that we’d like to stick with, even when a more stable economy resumes.

Have you tried any new store brand products that were surprisingly high-quality?  Will you stick with them even when the economy bounces back?

Yes...I will return to my usual name brand favorites (5.8%)

Some...I will return to many favorite brands, but I'll stick with a few new store brands I found (51.3%)

No...I discovered a lot of great new high-quality store brand products that I'll stick with (20.0%)

N/A I'm not buying more store brands during the economic downturn (22.7%)

I love brand name cereal for my family and certain can goods as well. But I have no problem using store brands on some items haven't found much difference in the quality.

I usually get things cheaper with coupons/sale and have noticed the price on store brand items raising to the point where some of them aren't that much less than name brand. One store brand I do love for frozen veggies is the GFS store brand---their vegetables beat any name brand for quality and the price is reasonable as well.

There are some generic brands I purchase. And some name brand items. Some generic is not worth anything. Why buy something just to have it if it doesn't work well enough or tastes bad.

I have always used a mix of name brands and store brands. I still do that, I just try to find more coupons for my name brands to help cut costs.

I use a lot of store brands because of price and a lack of organization when it comes to coupons. It is my understanding that there are several store brand/private label products are actually made by the same manufacturers, just with different labeling.

I'm still buying a lot of name brand grocery items (shopping sales and using coupons); however, I have purchased store brands for some items. I think Target store brand is nice quality and I will continue to purchase.

I prefer to buy national brands when they are on sale & use a coupon than to buy store brands.

I buy which ever is cheaper with or without a coupon, either the store brand or the name brands. We are a family of 5 and my boys don't taste any thing different in the food I buy. As long as they are eating well I will buy what ever is cheaper.

There are a lot of store brand cereals that are just as good as some of the name brand. Not all but my kids still are eating it just the same as they did the name brand so it works for me.
