I just returned from my vacation. I took my son Nick, his wife Renee' and my parents on a cross country road trip! We live in Indiana and we went to Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, The Badlands, Yellowstone, Old Faithful, Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Tombstone and White Sands New Mexico. I think I remembered it all. :) It was worth every last cent that I spent!! Now I'm saving for my next one....just not sure where or when it will happen. Luckily the gas prices didn't start rising until after we had gotten home. Sharon

I'm single and so there isn't another income to count on. My hours at work have been cut back so far, that now I can hardly afford food staples. A vacation isn't even in my thoughts anymore. I live in a small town where everthing like gas, groceries, gifts, or going to the movies is much more expensive than other areas. I can't even justify going to the movies around here. A matinee costs $7.50, which sure sounds like a lot when your finances are minimal. God bless you all!

YES, I can totally understand...I am a stay at home mother of two and my husbands job really depends on how the weather is, so like when we have alot of rain (as we have been) it gets REALLY hard. So we just dont have the resources to go anywhere like we used to.

We live in PA and I am greatful there is so much to do around here. There are tons of parks, nature walks(arranged for free by parks commission), a man made beach area, fairs and reasonably priced kids day camp. All except the day camp is free. If anyone lives in the Pocono area, check out all the Pocono websites and they list all the things going on week to week and by month so you can plan.

Well, since my family has always been on a tight budget, and we live in a state that has the lowest unemployment rate in the country, we've been able to afford even NICER vacations. The money we would normally spend on a local or small vacation goes a lot farther now with the deals that are out there. We're going to Disney World soon, which would have been impossible last year!

we live in a beach community so we can enjoy ourselves without travelling. Picnic suppers, long walks and reading a good book - everything is more fun at the beach!

Whan my kids were young I did'nt have much money to take them on trips as I was a single Mom. So way back then I found an old cottage for sale on Lake Ontario and bought it. The trip to the cottage was only 25 mins from home and thats how I saved on Vacations. I still have the Cottage and now with the economic times being so bad thats were we will be, in my old cottage by the Lake with the ones I Love.
