Has the economic downturn had any impact on your weight?

Candy and snack sales are up over the last several months.  We started to wonder if this increase in sales is hitting our waist lines?!  Since the recession began, have you noticed a difference in your eating habits and weight?

Some of us tend to eat more when we’re stressed while others do the opposite and eat less!  Have you noticed a difference in your weight?  We want to know!

I've gained more than 10lbs...I'm going to need a new wardrobe! (18.0%)

I've gained 5-10lbs...I snack a lot for comfort when I'm stressed (26.5%)

I've gained less than 5lbs...just a few comfort-food pounds that I hope to take off soon (10.4%)

I've lost weight...I can't eat when I'm stressed (12.5%)

Nope, no change (32.5%)

I've lost weight. I'm happy that I have lost weight , but not in this way, being stressed out about beling laid off, searching for jobs, stressing over bills. I've started to do excersizes in between job hunting, selling things on ebay and keeping my family together and bills paid. The exercise helps to cut the stress, and if I think about it the next job I have will pay better and be more in line with where I want to be in my life..so you have to look at possitives with all the negative going on.

I too have lost weight, about 25 pounds. I even went in to see my doctor to make sure everything was ok. Stress just has a way of doing this to me...then when things get better the pounds come back.

I hadn't really thought of my weight gain in relation to the economy, but it makes sense.

I gained about 10 lbs but I think its because of the winter months and being cooped up in the house with little to do

With foods costing more at the grocery store, I find myself not buying as much fresh fruits and vegetables as I have done in the past. Hopefully, the Farmer's Markets will be opening in a little while and i can buy locally grown fresh produce again.

I know I gained some weight these past few months, partly because I feel tired, stressed and I cannot seem to get motivated. Hopefully, now that it's in the 80's here in Orlando, FL I can finally go outside and work in my garden. I am planting a vegetable garden, so that I do not have to buy produce from the grocery store. The price of fresh produce, meat and other products have gone up considerable.

I know exactly what some of these women are talking about- staying home and not going out (the downsizing of the entertainment fund) is taking a toll on my hips!

I just got weighted on a doctor's scale and found out that I lost about 10 pounds. When I first became unemployed, I was worried that being around food all day would make me gain weight. I also found that I was lying around alot. Now, I try to do something that at least gets me out of the house for a few hours at least twice a week or search for ways on the computer for ways to beat the rising cost of food. Some of the deals that I've found are Mysavings.com, Angel Food Ministries, and Restuarant.com.

I dropped my gym membership b/c I wasn't going more than once a week... no sense paying for that. Now I'm trying out different workout dvd's from Netflix, since I'm already getting movies from them it makes sense to add a workout to the mix. :)

I am in need of divine intervention aside from a few outfits the only thing that fits me are my shoes and heaven knows that is not a good thing.
