What is your primary consideration when buying tuna fish?

Tuna fish is one of the staples of the American diet.  Which one of us hasn’t had tuna fish as a school lunch, on a picnic or just as a late night snack?! 

So, we’re curious, what makes you decide to buy one type or another of this pantry staple?

    I love tuna but I want it to be good quality.

    I prefer Starkist as well. I like my tuna packed in water and dolphin safe.

    I am really concerned about canned tuna's mercury content but they do not have to test for it or regulate it. I read that it varies widely, and I am really afraid to eat and buy it since it is totally unknown how much you are giving your children or yourself. I find it frustrating and irresponsible to market this food as a safe and beneficial food.

    I only buy chunk light, as opposed to white, because it supposedly has less mercury.

    I occassionaly will find a brand of tuna that has more than trashy little bits of fish, and then I can't find them anymore. For now WM brand is superior to Starkist or Bubblebee in my opinion. Given the size of a tuna fish, I cant understand why the can is full of fluid and mushy flakes and pieces ( I feel like the canned is nothing but the scraps of some other product.). As far as price goes....I wonder how many cans are sold as the rsult of 1 fish. Expensive. When I buy canned it is always in water, but buying the fish and making your own is a better way to go.

    Tuna is one way of getting my fish-avoidant family to eat healthy and I always purchase it in water. I wait for a sale to buy Starkist and then stock up.

    I buy either canned or pouch, but prefer the pouch because there is less liquid. I always buy tuna packed in water.

    I love tuna! But I only purchase it packed in water. It is more versitile that way and not as heavy/fattening.

    I don't eat Tuna, but buy it for my husband. He only eats solid white tuna, no chunky
