Considering the downturn in the economy, are you more likely to buy store brands (such as generic or private label brands)?

We all have our favorite brands.  The ones that no matter what the coupon discount is off that comparable "other" brand, we will still by our favorite.  With the current economic environment, are you more likely to switch from national brands to purchase less expensive store or private label brands?

Do you think the quality is comparable?

No, I will stick with the name brands that I know and trust (0.0%)

Yes, I will purchase more store brands to save money (0.0%)

The same - I won't change my brand preferences because of the economy (0.0%)

I used to shop with coupons but when I buy the generics brand the coupons don't be the same therefore the store can't use it.

I rarely buy store brands--it seems as though when I have the quality has been poorer and sometimes even stale! So then it's a total waste of money. However, when I make stew in the crockpot I usually buy Green Giant canned veggies; they are just a few pennies more than the store brand but the flavor is significantly better.

Although store brands are supposed to be the Brand name packaged under the store name, they don't seem to reflect the same product (just my opinion), and they tend to be more expensive for less.

The only store brand I've come across that seems to be of a decent quality is Target's. I'm addicted to their coffee! Even then, there are still items of which I will only buy specific brands.

I buy the brands which I have had the most success and satisfaction with; it's far too expensive to buy something which is on sale to find out it wasn't worth the cost. If somebody tells me that something worked really well for them, I may try it. We only shop for two in our household for the majority of the time so groceries are not our top expense.

I usually tend to buy a bit of both-brand name and store brands. It all depends on what is on sale. I can get a lot of brand names cheaper than store brands. I also shop a lot at Trader Joes and Sunflower Market and buy their brands, so I will not be changing my shopping habits much.

I buy some of both but like others have commented, seems the branded things are in short supply and non branded are big in supply. Some things taste just as good non-brand items and then some items I refuse anything but THE brand I have always used because the taste is the best. One of those is the Bush brand products.

I buy my products based on natural ingredients and what country they come from. I will not buy products that are produced outside the U.S. if I can help it, and I won't eat anything that contains high fructose corn syrup, modified food starch, msg, etc. I am not willing to risk my health to save $0.50!

I stick to the national brands on most items because I can usually get the name brand cheaper when there are sales and I use coupons. I am more likely to try the store brands when it comes to dairy section and less likely when it comes to household cleaning products.
