If you were given the power to make changes that would improve your shopping experience, what type of retail store would you most want to impact?

How many times have you gone into a store and thought, "Why is it like this? It could be so much better!" From the long lines at the wholesale clubs (because only half of the lanes are open!) to rude and inattentive sales people to messy racks at some stores where you can't find your size in the place its meant to be!  Some of our shopping experiences seem ripe for improvement!

If you were given the chance to make a shopping experience better, which type of store would it be and why?

Grocery Store (36.2%)

Department Store (7.6%)

Mass Merchandiser (Wal*Mart, Kmart, Target) (39.1%)

Club Store (Costco, Sam?s, etc.) (4.9%)

Discount Store (TJ Maxx, Filene?s, etc.) (6.5%)

Drug Store (1.6%)

Big Box Retailer (Home Depot, Staples, Toys R Us, etc.) (3.8%)

If you were given the power to make changes that would improve your shopping experience, what type of retail store would you most want to impact?

mass merchandisers like walmart and kmart never have enough cashiers. its so irritating when you have screaming kids and melting ice cream to wait in line forever!

I love places like Target and Wall-mart, but it is hard to push a caart around crammed aisles. When my kids were younger, and I used a larger cart, it was impossible! I also think these types of stores could do a much better job of displaying merchandise and giving shoppers "clues" as to how to put outfits together.

I always find that when I go to the big warehouse stores the wait to check out is unbearable. After trying to push those carts that don't turn corners and trying to get around people who stop in the middle of the aisle I just want to scream. I also find that anytime you need help there is never anyone around.

In the area where I live there are many grocer stores. The more expensive stores are a pleasure to shop at because they are less crowded, have wider aisles and less clutter. The crowded grocery store has very narrow aisles which makes for constant gridlock. The vendors are setting up free standing displays which makes maneuvering even harder. There are too few cashiers etc but the prices are better.

Since I am a full-figured women, I would like to see the department stores (Macy's, Dillard's, Nordstrom's, Bloomingdales) carry a better selection of clothing with reasonable pricing. Just because we are full-figured does not mean we want to wear old-lady clothes. A size 20 should get the same respect as a 0. (Really, when did 0 become a size?)

I wish more grocery stores would have the self checkout registers like Stop and Shop. this allows for more registers to open overall and saves on huge lines.

I would love to change the way that grocery stores stock items. Nothing i look for is ever where I would expect to find it. It always feels like I have to run from one end of the store to the other to get what is needed. The isles are too small, and the cashiers and staff are rude. It feels like there is never anyone available for help even at the checkout isles!

I would like more grocery stores to carry more "whole food" and less manufactured food.

I chose big box stores like Home Depot and Toys R Us, these are stores I seem to frequent a lot and they really are not kid friendly. You would think that Toys R Us the Nations largest toy retailer would be more kid friendly, they have items down at a level that younger ones should not reach and are typically clutter leaving your children with the idea that they can ransack it even more. I want my children to be respectful in all stores and the only play area for the children is Thomas the Train, which don't get me wrong my boys love but can't they have something else available also. Home Depot just doesn't have anything arranged for children or parents, it is always an adventure we I have to visit there.

Grocery stores should have an inverntory system that keeps track of frequently bought items. I have to go to different stores because usually there are one or two items from my list that are not there. When I go grocery shoppping, I want to go once a week and that's it!!! I call the managers and let them know but I haven't really seen improvements.
