As this holiday shopping season is nearing, how much do you plan to spend?

The holidays are fast approaching and with them, all the gift giving and celebrations.  Money will be spent, but it is a matter of how much and on what.  Whether what and how you buy are determined by your household financial situation or are a reflection of values (from buying local to possibly paying more for more sustainable products or foregoing products altogether and buying experiences for your loved ones), things likely change from year to year.  So, have you given it any thought?

More than I did last year (23.5%)

The same as I did last year (38.7%)

Less than I did last year (29.6%)

I'm not sure (8.0%)

I have 5 young children & 2 teenage step children. Seems the older they all get, the more expensive their gifts get! No matter how much I try to bargain shop, it still adds up to more than I can afford, lol, & it gets worse every year!

I have 4 young boys. 14 months to 9 years of age. Christmas has always excited me since I became a mother!!! I love watching their faces when they get a gift that they really want. This year my youngest will be 16 months, he'll be able to enjoy it just like the rest of my kids!!!

We weren't able to spend anything last Christmas because we had both lost our jobs. I'm working now, so we'll definitely spend more than last year, but it still won't be a lot.

I'll definitely be spending less this year. My son's 1st year of college and much less overtime - the money's just not there to do it the right way this year.
