How much, on average, do you spend annually on clothes and accessories?

If the current issues of any number of fashion magazines are any indication, there is a big difference between fantasy-land clothes prices and the average person's reality. A lot of it may depend on whether or not you live an urban, more corporate lifestyle, versus the smalltown/non-corporate lifestyle. Or, clothes might be key for your work or social standing. There may also be a general difference between the prices women on the west and east coasts have come to expect, and what women in middle-America will tolerate.

These days the environmental and labor law issues also come into play and can influence women's buying behavior. Some might pay more for "eco-responsible" jeans, and others might pay more for t-shirts made in America.

As per the recent SheSpeaks blog post A Brand New Car or A Handbag, a lot of you find the Louis Vuitton $45,000 handbag a bit much. So, do you live in fantasy fashion-land?

I am a busy mom who works outside the home and has two young boys. Each year I buy about 2 - 3 pair of nice pants for work and fill in when I can throughout the year. I tend to flip flop, one year I concentrate on winter clothes the next on summer clothes. My shoes are another story, whenever I find a pair of shoes I like I have to buy, shoes and bags!

I am a big fan of the outlet shops and Target. I do buy a nice suit each year and quality shoes/boots that I resole and wear for about 3-4 years. Many people underspend on undergarments which can make or break any outfit. Bras need to be bought each year. Stay with the classics to keep your clothing budget minimal with a few trendy blouses. I've recently lost 25 lbs so tailoring the clothes I love has kept my overall budget low(er).

I can't see paying alot of money for clothes when the cost of everything else is going up, but my salary isn't. Also you can go to any thrift store and get many more clothes for the same price of 1 outfit at a high end store because many womem barely wear their clothes before getting rid of them.

My shopping is relative to my income. If I have more I tend to spend more. When I am working alot I have less time to bargain shop. When I am working less and making less money I can't justify the money spent on clothes, but I still want them so I shop at alternitive sites, i.e. thrift stores, garage sales, ect.
