i use the shredded paper from the paper shredder for our guinea pigs bedding; i save the lids off water/soda bottles and send them in to school for crafts; i take all the little 'happy meal' toys collected through the year and given them out instead of candy at halloween, i go 'shopping' at my neighbors curb the night before bulk pickup

I use mesh produce bags for the produce I buy. They can be reused and are so much better than the plastic bags. I go shopping once a week only (save gas) and bring my own bags. I make my own deodorant which is stored in a glass container. I try not to buy anything in cans or plastic bottles. And of course I turn off all the lights when I leave the room. And finally, our house won't be heated until it cools down to 63F.

I always keep a nylon shopping bag in my purse - it doesn't take up much room. I used to amass so many shopping bags (both paper and plastic) and now I've reduced that amount dramatically. I've changed almost all of the light bulbs in my house to energy-efficient ones. I also recycle all my #5 plastics at Whole Foods since my community recycling program doesn't take them.

We separate all of our glass, cans, plastic, newspapers, and cardboard. I also use my own shopping bags when I go grocery shopping or to Target. Target rewards you with 5 cents off each purchase when you bring your own bags.

We recycle many things - including water from the shower to water our plants. We do all the regular things as well, recycling paper, cans, bottles, platics. Every little bit helps!

I recycle as much as I can. We recently purchased a hybrid car. We use filtered water, and recently "gave up" using all of the bottled water...

I on a personal level we conserve daily. Electrial, water, recycleables. Our refuge out put is very little. On a professional level, I am a residential builder, I donate all usuable building products that are extra or leftover from different projects .There are quite a few organizations that pick up and resale or donate to needs based groups. I feel good about that. Someone can use an expensive building product I do not need and it does not end up in the local dump. I try to impress this concept on my children so they understand their responsibility to this world as well
