What do you think about electronic book and magazine readers like the Kindle and iPad?

With Amazon’s announcement this week that sales of digital books were greater than sales of hardbacks, it’s clear that e-readers are here to stay. What do you think about this shift in the reading experience? Are you or do you see yourself becoming a convert?

I love them and I have an e-book reader (12.2%)

I prefer the physical experience of a book or magazine (34.9%)

I'm not planning to get an e-reader but I think it is a neat device and can be very convenient (52.9%)

When I read a good book - I enjoy passing it along to a friend or family member. With a Kindle or Nook you lose the joy of sharing.

They are neat and convenient, but I still prefer the physical book over it.

My husband and I gave each other Kindles for Christmas this past year without the other knowing what the other was doing. It has turned out to be one of the best gifts we have both received. WE LOVE THEM! They are perfect for traveling and for every day life. I even keep a couple of kids books on them for those moments in the back seat of the car or when we are caught waiting someplace and I need to keep someone occupied for a bit. The kids love them now just as much as we do. We are seriously considering getting them e-readers of their own for this Christmas.

They are very convenient, but not sure if I am ready to give up the paper. I deal with computers daily and know they have flaws. The downloads are more expensive then I thought they would be, Would also like to be able to share with others

There just seem's wrong. I haven't tried it yet,so I really haven't seen both sides. Books are an experience, the weight of the book, the hunt for a book, even the smell are part of the joy of a tactile item, like a book.I am a book addict, i love to read . I probably could support a small country on the amount I spend on books!(kidding)! a tiny country...now I also understand about conservation, and books use paper. i guess that is 1 positive 4 the kinde...sorry, I could go on more, but i'll stop 4 now..

My daughter got one for graduation and she just loves it! I think they are great, especially if you read a lot and don't have the space for too many books. Eventually I would like to get one for my husband.
