IF you have been buying more store brands during the economic downturn, will you go back to your usual brand-name favorites when the economy recovers?

While the economic downturn has been tough on many of us, there are a couple of silver linings we can find.  We’ve all become more thoughful about our finances and the products we purchase.  Trying new store brand products because they’re less expensive may have lead to great new discoveries about high-quality store brands that we’d like to stick with, even when a more stable economy resumes.

Have you tried any new store brand products that were surprisingly high-quality?  Will you stick with them even when the economy bounces back?

Yes...I will return to my usual name brand favorites (5.8%)

Some...I will return to many favorite brands, but I'll stick with a few new store brands I found (51.3%)

No...I discovered a lot of great new high-quality store brand products that I'll stick with (20.0%)

N/A I'm not buying more store brands during the economic downturn (22.7%)

It depends on the price. Sometimes, the name brand is cheaper if you have a coupon. It also seems like some brands are better than other's. I don't like walmart or winn dixie brand, but I do like Publix and Kroger brand.

I do a lot of comparison shopping. I stand in the aisle's comparing size and price. For the most part I have found really no difference between the store brands and name brand products. As a matter of fact a lot of the store brands taste the same if not better than some of the name brand products. I did try the store brand cereal and will never do that again as the store brands just didn't taste as good as the name brands that I usually buy like Raisin Bran Crunch and plain Cheerios.

I have gone in a totally different direction - I used to only buy store brands, thinking they were cheaper. When I started looking into using coupons, I found that I could get things like name brand cereal FREE or close to it. I love coupons. :-)

Growing up, my father owned a grocery store. We never had to worry about how much something cost, we just grabbed what we wanted. Then I went off to college and had to learn how to look at prices. For the most part the store brands taste just as good as the name brands. However there are some products that I will stick to the name brands.

I have purchased store brand cheese and have been pleased with them. There are certain items that do taste bad or the texture is bad.

It's like everything else , Depending on the price of the product ? But I'll be buying more of my favorite brands / products that I enjoy alot more. When the time is right and I can spend alittle more money.

Instead of buying cheerios for $4 a box, my husband likes the $2.19 ones at WalMart. This is one of the few store brands we use

THere are some things I will always buy the name brand on but will mostly buy store brand alot, you are all right it depends on the sales and coupons. There just don't seem to be the coupons out there (good coupons) any more.
