Are you having your kids vaccinated for the H1N1 (swine flu) virus?

Access to the H1N1 vaccine has slowly become available across the country, but some parents are still having trouble getting their children vaccinated.

Have you had your kids vaccinated?  If so, where did you get them vaccinated?  Did they get a shot or the inhaled mist?  If you are choosing to not have your children vaccinated, why not?

I already had my kid(s) vaccinated (21.6%)

I want to get my kid(s) vaccinated but can't get access to the vaccine (10.7%)

I've been able to get some of my kids vaccinated, but not all of them (3.5%)

I'm unsure about whether to get my kids vaccinated (25.3%)

I'm definitely not having my kids vaccinated (38.7%)

Are you having your kids vaccinated for the H1N1 (swine flu) virus?

I think it is very hyped up. Kids need to be exposed to a certain level of viruses so their natural immunity builds up and protects them for their entire lives. I think the drug companies are behind the media-driven panic in order to sell their vaccines. Statistics show it is much less deadly than the seasonal flu by a huge percentage, so the panic is unwarranted. I think those with underlying health problems should get vaccinated but not the entire population.

There was a swine flu outbreak in the US in the 70's. The flu actually only killed one person. However MANY were stricken with GBS as a direct result of the 'vaccine'. This is a neurologic disease which can prove fatal. Back then the government and drug companies were swearing the vaccine was safe too, but look what happened. Also, the drug companies which produce the vaccine are granted immunity by the government against lawsuits related to the vaccine. So even if the shot kills every single person that gets it, the drug companies aren't held liable. Fabulous, huh? I am not getting anywhere near this shot and I am not allowing my children to get it either. The risks far outweigh the alleged benefits.

My children recieved the vaccine at school, and I recieved mine through public health because I care for infants. I consulted with doctors and nurses before coming to the decision. We already get the seasonal flu vaccine and there was no more risk than we already had with that.

Our school is going to have a second round of vaccinations next week at which time my 18 yr old daughter is being vaccinated. She has allergies and asthma and our doctors wanted her to get vaccinated. My doctors office was unsure if they would get it in and when the school announced it, we registered with the school. I actually got the H1N1 flu and was sick for well over a week. I was concerned because I had just babysat my 4 month old grand-daughter the day before I noticed symptoms. She fortunately did now get it.

Well we all got sick with it so I guess we are now immune. We all survived.

My kids are old enough to make up their own minds about it. Most of us have been exposed to it already, and not gotten sick with it. Yes we were lucky. But after being exposed and not getting sick, I don't see where the shot would do us any good.
