I dont hide indoors during the normal flu season. The normal flu kills around 65,000 people a year in north america and this has only killed a confrimed 20 something. I think there is far too much panic. I mean I've had the flu and it is terrible but this is not the next plague of mass destruction....

Taking it very seriously. I work with a lot of new hires and come in contact with people I don't know as well as people I do know. I use a lot of tissues to open and close doors. Try not to get to close to people - keeping my distance.

I think the media is making too much of the swine flu. That being said, I've been trying to wash my hands on a more regular basis.

In all except 1 case of Swine Flu that happened in the USA, the infected made a complete recovery. I'm not worried at all.

Have they actually connected it to a specific "pig" or farm? Last night I heard on talk radio that many farmers are suffering needlessly due to the assumption it came from a "local" farm. Do we just avoid products from Mexico? I also heard the face masks were unnecessary. "Stick to your "normal," everyday practice you use to avoid becoming ill and we should be fine." Is this attitude too casual?

I have a degree in Genetics and the fact that healthy young adults are dying from this flu indicates that there is little or no immunity in the human population. Also, as an American, it is hard to believe that there are not a whole bunch of unreported cases in the United States, both because of our large Immigrant population and also because of tourism to Mexico. It may hurt Mexico's travel industry, but the best thing you can do to avoid this deadly flu is to avoid traveling there.

My family & I are washing our hands a lot more & using hand sanitizers. Since I have an 18 month old son I'm trying my best to keep him safe & not be around too many people or a big group.
