If you had to replace a favorite brand name product with a cheaper product, are you more likely to choose a cheaper name brand or a store brand?

Recently, the economic news about stronger than expected retail sales, has given many a glimmer of hope!  As shoppers however, we seem to be constantly looking for smart ways to save money.

In light of the economic downturn, if you had to replace a favorite brand name product with a cheaper product, are you more likely to choose a cheaper name brand or a store brand?  Why?

    I would try the cheaper name brand first to see if I like it. If I don't like it , then I would buy the store brand.

    I have found that many times the store brand is just as good as the name brand. So I have been switching to it a lot more recently.

    Small store carry name brands at a better price.

    I have found that a lot of the store brand products are pretty good and I am always willing to try and find out for myself/

    I have tried the name brand and the store brand items. No matter what anyone telsl me you can not convince me they tatse the same. They don't. There are certain sore brand itemsI will not deter from. I have tried before and always ended up wasting money in the process.

    I will usually buy the store brand and give it a try. Many of the store brands are made by the same companies that make the name brands, just less marketing.

    It really depends on the product. With coffee and ketchup there isn't any substitution for me.

    Today most store brands are made by the name brand companies, they just label the cans differently but its the exact same product.
